Sticky grips from Renthal? This might be something special.

Personally, I am a lontime longneck rider. They are grippy, have plenty of cushioning and are a tad larger then the Ruffians. Pillows for your hands.

my problem with ODIs has always been the thick rubber tube with the thin rubber exterior. I much prefer rubber to the bar, where possible. Gives better grip without being thicker. More rubber on top is not necessarily the best solution, but it sounds like they've optimized it to have more rubber under the hand with possibly a thinner plastic core and a thinner bottom section.

digging the USA bars....
Yeah rogues was first choice for a long time now tld...the curved ridges grab your glove when you lean back and act like a screw by pulling hand down...find my self riding by my fingers sometimes...unfortunately all I've seen is white in tld. (But then I haven't looked I just buy what Kerry at bling has)
The new Renthal sticky ones I'd like to try. Renthal has GOOD stuff....

Wish more people would put the hand flap like your longneck have... used to buy the BMX rogue in extra wide because they gave my paws more real estate to grab and they had the flap/guard to rest your hand and thumb against.....

I assume you meant plastic tube?

ODI Longneck user here too! Years ago I went to lock-ons and thought they were great for some reason. They weren't comfortable by any means. Ruffian, Rogue and some pos by PRO that I bought @ Whistler. The PRO's felt like I was riding a bar with nothing on it. They hurt like a mother f'er! The thicker ODI looks like it has padding, but really don't offer anything. Why I changed to lock-ons I have no idea. I haven't used them in years.

Back in the day Ritchey or Salsa made a very comfortable grip. The rubber was soft and the middle of the grip was thicker than the ends. Less pressure on the Ulna nerve.

The old Big Earl grips from Bontrager were awesome. Perfect diameter and really comfy but fast wearing compound. Unfortunately they stopped producing them.

After that I tried the Rogues (too big, terrible cramps on longer, rough tracks) and smaller Race Face lock on's (comfy, but too small for holding on in the rough...).
So I went to the Longnecks lock ons. Problem solved, never looked back.

Maybe we should start to get a database for grips?
If someone is as picky as I am (I am sure you :monkey: 's are) in terms of grips, this could be a real help.
  1. Actual diameter
  2. Width
  3. Clamp technique
  4. Overall feel in terms of cushioning, comfort, wear etc.
Feel free to post your grips!

Best grips ever for gloveless..I was always a thin grip guy until I rode these..problem is they were a promotional item for teva..my buddies worked there so I've had a steady supply..unfortunately the supply has been dwindling but they are available online now but it pains me to spend 30$ on grips for some reason

Got some for free a while back and am a thick grip hater. Finally put them on a budget DJ I built up. Rode with no gloves and woah!

Posting this pic mostly just to make you jealous that I didn't spend $30 on them:

Sensus Swazye grips are pretty good. Very long, Although a little on the thin side they grip good and are soft.
I ride the slip ons on trail and lock ons, on my dh.

The slip ons are great for a few hours but then start to hurt my fingers. I didn't notice it until I brought my trail bike to the bike park and hammered the trails all day. Before that day I was convinced that I needed the slip ons for the dh bike too.

I've got some gravity light lock ons on my dj. They seem pretty good. Curved a little weird but if you hang on with your pinky and ring fingers a lot they feel great. Long/plenty of room

Odi rogues are to thick for me. Size large hands. They felt great in the store then I rode with them and when it got fast and crazy it felt like I was trying to hold on to pop cans... couldn't do it!

I like the odi troy Lee. Wish they were a little longer though.

the Easton grips have been great for me for the past two+ years. And it seems Easton now makes RaceFace's grips too. The material grips good, it has a nice cushioning, and different patterns for palms and fingers. And it comes in two thicknesses. I recommend them.

If the Rogues are too thick for you like the odi troy lee, you should try the odi SDG grips.
They are my go to grips for both my trail bike and dh bike. They are thinner than the rogues, but more
comfortable and provide better grip. I also have the troy lee grips on my dj bike, and the sdg grips are just
a tad thicker.
