Who am I kidding. Trek and Sram are working on an ISCG Boost that decreases chain loss by 0% and increases how much bike mechanics hate them x1000.

Edit: I've said too much.

The only thing that is 100% guaranteed is that the majority of people posting in this thread are 100% unfunny douche bags that either have no girlfriend or their wife has stopped putting out so this is how you get excited by writing utter gibberish and trying to be funny.

If you're really that bored that you have nothing slightly interesting on the matter why say anything at all ? Its a waste of people's time and you're turning an ok thread into utter rubbish.

How about you all just stay on track with whats maybe going to happen or better still wait till after 01/01/16 and see whats really happening in the industry.
You must work for Trek

Beerten leashes the bulldog and cleans house at GT. Lord bummer breaks the Vulcan code and shows emotion by flipping off the haters as he leaves the building....

I wonder where the Athertons would go? They are a great asset to MTB and have helped push the sport on a lot of levels.

If Ream Toumers drawing is correct, they must be going to Trek. Surely one of the few brands with pockets deep enough

I don't get the hate for Gee. Someone that can ride a bike like him (DH race, Rampage, DJ, etc.) has my fullest respect. That said, I cheered for Stevie S. when it was between him and Gee for WC overalls.

Problem with Gee is his demeanour... I understand the race-face and focus, but after the race, take the damn thing off and smile, maybe even laugh a little - join in the festivities. He needs to take some lessons from his sister - she gets it. Lord Bummer indeed.

"Fan" is a little strong. I would buy him a beer and shot of tequila though. Might cheer him up a little.

To be fair, he did take a piss on GM's V10 once after a race didn't he? Yes, it certainly was unridabler after that.

That was pretty hilarious!

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
Question of the day, for me anyway. Do pros test ride the bikes they're in negotiation to switch to? Or do they just sign up with a team and hope the bike doesn't suck? Sure they can make changes and what-not, but lets say an American Ginger were on a Trek and winning, and switched to some other company, like Specialized and the bike just didn't work for him, do they know that going in, or do they figure that out after the ink on the new contract dries?

Good question, but my feeling is its the latter. Some may disagree, but I think almost all of the top line DH bikes out there ride pretty damn well, and hell, Wyn and especially Eddie have been logging solid WC results on Bulls and Bergamont bikes. I think the biggest thing for Ginger Jezus (bikewise) was some geo/sizing issues with the Demo at the time. My guess is these guys are so damn good, they figure they can easily adjust to any slight difference in anti-skwatz or 0.05 mm longer CS, and they're mainly looking for the best $$$ deal and team support. That and which team has an experienced, attractive French physio :brows:

I think the standard MO for high level pros is to ride potential new bikes extensively before signing on a new team.

if youre basing your feelings towards someone because they can ride then youre missing a few bits of the equation. he was a tool when i tried to say hi at Windham but his sister was super cool. he was the only putz in the pits there (among riders.)

Then please explain to me what makes Sam Hill so popular? In his early years he had nothing going for him besides being a maniac on a bike. I still remember when he lost worlds to Barel and you could see how pissed he was when on the podium.
I guess with pro riders it depends when you catch them if they are friendly or 'in the zone' and don't want to be disturbed. This might explain why people have different experiences with some riders.

Sam Hill was just pure insanity when he broke onto the scene. His quiet approach made him even more mysterious for everyone. You can tell that everyone and their sister wanted to be able to ride like him in that time (Well, I pray for it still every day...).
Then there were race runs, where even the pros wanted him to win, because he was so unbelivably fast.

Nowaday, or since his bad injuries he also got fans for his unbreakable will to get back on the top step I think.

You've clearly read something into that which wasn't there - Both Hill and Barel have the utmost respect for each other, and I've gotten the drift from interviews that they'd both rather lose to each other than many of the alternatives in that time period. Of course everyone's goal is to win, and at that level more than ever it's understandable when someone is disappointed with their result. I doubt that had much to do with who the loss was to.

As for why he's popular - it's possible his FIVE world championship wins have something to do with it. His winning margins were also substantially higher than average, even by past and current standards.

PS - no disrespect for Gee, he's a great rider. You can't instruct/expect people to like or dislike someone based purely on their performance though, it just doesn't work like that.

I can see the Atherton being taken as dicks. The shop I worked at had a plaque for being a GT dealer for 25 years back in 2010. That's pretty impressive considering GT started in the late 70's. When Dave, the shop owner, retired, I asked him for posters and neon signs he didn't want. One was a GT poster from the late 90's. Black with yellow letters. I thought it would be cool to have the Athertons sign it and give it back to him. I was at Windham this year and took it to the GT trailer. I just had a conversation with Hill and had him sign 2 frames(Sunday and Demo). I took the Demo over to Gwinn and he signed it too. He also signed a Decline cover. When I went to the GT trailer though, complete rejection! I asked if they could sign the poster for the shop owner who sold GT for 25+ years. The girl turns around and asks if they started their training yet and Gee said yes... As he's mixing his drink and Rachel is throwing on a shirt. Really? She told me to come back in 2 hours after qualifying. But that would be during qualifying. I showed up again after both had qualified and the same girl said they're now cooling down, come back in 1/2 hour. I did, now they're out somewhere, come back tomorrow... I got there early on race day and some guy said that they're getting ready for the race. Really bud? It's not for 2.5 hours? I asked if I could leave the poster and have them sign it for the shop owner who sold GT for 25+ years at their convince. "Nah, things can dissappear around here. Someone might give out the poster to someone else. Come back after the race.". Fuck this. I'm done.

After 3 Windham World Cup races, I've figured out who the cool ones are. My first time I talked to Mick Hannah for 20 minutes or so. Amazingly down to earth guy! Hill is the same way. This year I talked w/Sam Dale for over half an hour about riding in NY and PA! Missy Giove was fucking awesome too! As soon as I parked my bike she asks me "What's up man?". She told me to come back into her area and she signed the jersey and talked like we were close friends that hadn't seen each other in a while! She signed the jersey "The Missile"! Post race I saw her again and she just makes you feel like you are her best friend! Side note- After talking to S. Dale and I asked him to sign the jersey, he looked at all the sigs and goes"Woah! Missy Giove signed this... I'm signing next to her." Ratboy! I was walking along one day (4 years ago) and out of the Syndicate tent rolls some guy. He looks at me with this huge smile and asks me how I'm doing. I don't have a clue who this guy is, but he's wearing a Syndicate jersey! I already had Peaty and Minnar sign it. After about 5 minutes of talking about the course, I asked if he'd sign the jersey. This guy was full of life man! He was so thrilled that he signed it! Off we went after wishing each other well. I turned to get his name and his goggles were covering it. Ra--oy? Is that a BO in the middle? Ratboy? I don't know? Then I found out it was Bryceland when I looked it up on my phone! Some racers really represent their company in such good ways it would make you WANT to buy their bike. Others turned me off for good. GT and Devinci were horrible at representing at the WC. Giant, Nukeproof, Trek, Specialized, Saracen, all were welcoming to their tents and their racers were easy to strike up a conversation with.
