Ok, who has installed a brake hose using srams stealth-a-magij system? I'm at a loss, looking to ride and the tech manuals are not making sense to me. Here's a photo of what I've got to work with.

I'm used to seeing a threaded barb which needs to be threaded into the hose, a crush olive and the threaded nut which crushes the olive and holds the hose to the brake lever.

What i have is this metalic tip, a threaded crush olive and the standard threaded nut.

Anyone seen this before? From the tech manual i gather its oem, but thats where the useful information ends in the manual.

Any help is appreciated.

Mount the rubber cover + threaded nut over that assembly and onto the hose.

Unscrew the metal cover on the end of the hose (with the small hole in it)
Either use a tool on the slotted surfaces or a small allen key through the hole.
The thread is left hand, remember this when removing it.

That hose will be filled so keep it pointing up.

Use the red tool with the olive inside and thread the olive on (still left hand thread, remember) until it is snug, take off the tool.

Pull off the red cover on the master cylinder (also tilting it up) and install the hose. After that you torque down the threaded nut over the olive as normal.

Remember to clean everything afterwards, DOT fluid is nasty.

I think its intention was to make internal brake lines that are almost a prebled eaiser to pull through. It is not a bad idea if the line is percut to length. I have only had this happen once, on one frame size, with one brand. With the rest of the bikes it was cut off and the new style olive and barb was used. It worked fine just different. However if you didn't have the new style olive and barb it is very important to bottom out the hose into the lever and continue to pushing it while it you thread the compression nut to torque. The reason is, the lever has a spring (I think) that without constant pressure on the hose it will push the hose out of the olive in the lever. I hope that makes sense.
