I remember watching him in Stars and Bars when he was still a nobody, jump about 20 feet higher then everybody else in that socal jumpline train, and thinking "holy shit that dude is going to break that bike."

with '16 being an Olympic year, curious if S is making any big road/xc moves.

I also wonder about specialized seeing less value when their top racer is not flossing their whole kit (clothes, components, suspension, accessories, shoes, helmets, etc)

The new "M16" ?

Nothing screams USA more than an Intense. And we all know Gwin is all about USA.

It would be a huge revitalization for Intense. They would end up selling a shit ton of framesets/bikes.
Maybe if they gave Gwin profit sharing or a percentage of there sales they could pay what he wants.

but after reading the PB article it does make sense.. some guy on PB said it well
"It begins with a passion that ends up as a job, the dichotomy between fun and finance will forever haunt our sportsmen and women."

i wonder what company can shell out as much money as Gwin wants

edit: some interesting talk on the last page of vital thread

Well, the big hole in my argument for gwin staying with specialized was my forgetting to factor in an agreement on pay. I are not right about that one lol

If Gwin and Specialized couldn't meet in the middle, then it's outside money for sure.

DH bubble 2.0?

"Almost equally important is the company's social vibe. By vibe, I'm referring to an overall direction, image, style, etc."
Gwin to Intense would be my pick. So Cal kid on a So Cal Bike.
Bruni to Specialized might be interesting. What if the reigning world champ's results went to shit on a Demo?
Highly doubtful though as Bruni looks like the next generation of dominance.

I would imagine the only bike companies capable of paying the same kind of figures Gwin was asking for would be Trek, Specialized, or Giant. As mentioned previously, that doesn't mean there isn't going to be outside money involved though...

Apparently its somebody he rode for in the past.

And he never rode for trek, he rode for trekworldracing/martin whitely.

So he's riding martin whitely in the treckworldracing series with a yeti on his back!

Knew it!
You're so dense sometimes. He's riding a yeti with a Martin Whitely on his back. How could you be so stupid? Do you even go here?

Yeti doesn't give two shits about DH racing, they don't even make DH bikes anymore.

in a single wide, cooking meth...
Gwin is a Cali homer

Gwin wants to be part of the design/testing process

Gwin is relatively short (i.e. kidwoo "short")

Gwin is white

Now think about the Easter Bunny...what does he do every April? That's right, the fuzzy bastard comes back to life.
So it seems pretty obvious he is going to resurrect the SWD brand...Just a few tweaks to the geo, and this bad boy will be winning WCs

But really, I'm pretty sure he's going to be riding for Guerrilla Gravity in 2016 (mainly because mtg agreed to make him a bad ass set of dentures).

Oops, too much?

Gwin reignited his racing on and enduro with a 40 up front, Ritchie Rude has been riding an SB6 with a 40 up front, but always in a full face, Conclusive proof that Gwin has been posing as Rude while testing the SB6 in preparation for the 16 season. It's science.

Hell Gwin probably could get a top 20 on an SB6C, Rude won a DH race at mt creek on his sb6, After Crashing!

Wonder when the big news will be revealed? If I was on that marketing team it would be the boring Monday after the new years holiday when everyone is back at work and camping out on the internet.

fixed that for ya

with how stiff gwin runs his suspension, and rude being a huge manchild, the yeti frame definitely can be a winner

He did, but it was against a bunch of amatuers, not world cup level competition.

Also, his crash probably cost him a grand total of 2 seconds, it was on a slow part of the course and he was back on his bike before many even realized he went down.

Oh, and he won that race last year on the same course/bike as well.

I don't reply to this stuff without sarcasm, but!

The big 3 come to mind first- Trek, Special-ed and Giant. We all know Special is out and a return to Trek not likely, especially after signing Athertons.

Giant? Maybe.

But he mentioned the vibe. Since SC was bought out by a bigger company who wants to sell them all around the world, is this his landing? With Peaty retiring, SC won't need to up his salary next year. Are they looking for someone like Gwinn with a consistent winning record? They're out of California too. Not made there, but hq wouldn't be a bad trip for him. Besides, SC has always had that "vibe" of a DH/FR/AM company.

Not a prediction, but just a thought...

They didn't? I thought they did for some reason... I'll go back and edit that.
