I am wondering about SC as well...
Vibe- check
Location (reason for move to specialized)- check
Money- maybe check?

Also, would be kinda funny perspective on Minnaar asking Warner what Gwins new frame would be. Also, look how much they talked about Gwin in that interview...

Meh

SC was also just bought by a pretty major conglomerate, with very deep pockets and experience sponsoring big race teams. Not sure there's room for him on the team though, and no idea why SC would want to ruin the ruggedly handsome vibe they have going on with somebody as clean cut as gwin.

SC would be cool, I do think we need to get away from worrying about a frame sponsor covering the bread here. I am sure they will be a contributor but the big money is coming from outside the industry...I may have said too much.

Not so sure Santa Cruz Bikes has the "vibe" Gwin was talking about....or the divine cash levels he wants, or more importantly the need for another top tier rider.

However; KTM is from Austria, Austria is 75% catholic, KTM has gobs of cash, hmmmmm......

Team KTM/Jesus powered by Whiteley?

probably not much merit to it. but would be super cool to see a moto company get into the game like Honda did back in the day. In my opinion Gwin doesn't seem like a good fit with SC. Hell he doesn't even drink beer. I doubt Gwin would put up with Ratboy's antics either

When you've proven that you're the fastest going downhill, you then turn your sights toward going uphill. Gwin and Whitely gonna start the first uphill e-bike team. This will result in an explosion of e-bike popularity, propelled by IMBA opening new Uphill Flow trails across the globe.

Whose e-bikes? I'm gonna guess Cube.

Meh.
Once Gwin spelled out in interview form this is about Money, not interested in the outcome. Specialized likely will not lose salesroom presence by having Gwin jump ship, but whoever it is that feels they need to meet his contingency or performance bonus now fights a losing battle.
BMX in it's prime showcased this change of attitude, it crippled the sport.
Gwin has a solid run the past few years, since going public with this assumed lack of financial security - going to be an overly tight year for DH 2016.

Gwin brings too much of a moto-pro mentality for me to root for him. All business, no perceived fun or personality. I liked him alot more on Yeti when he was bar humping his way to the finish line. Whatever tho, its still interesting to see where he ends up.

YeTi withdrew from the WC DH and let go of gravy they can't afford a WC team and Gwin.

How can rude go back to DH if Yeti is enduroing, unless he leaves or change team. (he is still under contract with yeti).

*and also dont forget the drawing, murica's number #1 to germany they say it's YT HQ.

Who is troy's new team mate?, Hart on Spez?

i see Bruni to dominate 2016. gwin on new bike will struggle.

Bruni and Blenki are teamates again is that on cube or intense?

any info on the intense WC team?

Silly question, but I wonder if Rude could race select WC events on another manufacturer's bike? Different situation, but I remember when the Sunn guys were actually riding TR450s a few years back. Hell, rock a GG/DH to keep the CO theme going. Maybe somehow involve Yeti coolers into the affair.

I'm sure yeti would be pumped to have their star athlete riding another companies bike in a discipline they don't pay him for risking his season

The Specialized tombstone and RIP yeti is looks like a book with a page turning - graves to Spec.

Bruni and Vergier to LA- Intense makes sense

Matt walker to cube

Who is in the room with the athertons at Trek?
Someone walking a dog? Idk

Rude riding DH? But where?

Truck going over a canyon? Wtf?

Exactly! If he gets broke off racing DH, they can blame it on someone else's bike. Makes sense to me. :lighten:

But yeah, I know it's a ridiculous scenario. Just wondering what happens if your star rider actually wants to race DH and you don't have a DH bike. Maybe just drag out an old DH9 and call it good.

Has anyone floated the idea of Bruni to specialized? Can't remember, but interesting possibility.

Why would he need a non yeti dh ride? He's been racing the 6c, and it's probably enough bike for the more pearly tracks, for the gnar tracks Yeti has built one off prototypes before, they could do it again. But that still doesn't change the fact that Richie Rude is just an alias for Aaron Gwin and raced all last year on a demo

OK, I'll play along with the Rumorz vibe.

So looking at the hints in the (poorly drawn) pictographs HERE:
https://www.instagram.com/ream_tumours/

...and interpreting ONLY what is presented in the above scribblings of a madman:

Starting at the bottom:
- Face/head uttering the words Fu&k Enduro then in the picture next to that possibly the same individual riding DH saying "Fu&k Yeah" : No idea.
- Pic of Atherton logo, then same logo hiking or "trekking": Athertons to Trek. CONFIRMED
- A flatbed truck rapidly approaching a canyon (OR a "Big S") hauling a large turd pile with the French flag stuck in it: If I were the French I would be offended.
- A magnifying glass reveals the detail of the cargo on the truck in the previous picture detailing what is most likely a brioche or round loaf of French bread with the inscription "LA": So, a few members of the French Lapierre team (LA) to Canyon... or "Big S" - Spesh... whichever.
- A room with the GT Wings logo on the wall, the Atherton logo exiting, and a stick figure holding a leash (Wyn Masters), a Dutch flag (Anneke Beerten) and a... sandwich? ... catchers mitt...? pot roast...? (Sam Dale), with a bulldog on the leash: Athertons leave GT / Wyn Masters, Anneke Beerten, Sam Dale, and Brook MacDonald (Bulldog) signed. CONFRIMED
- Tombstone with the "Big S" and Yeti logos: Both teams/companies will lose a rider. CONFIRMED
- Picture of a cube with an "X" through the word "gloss" on a can of paint, what looks like the logo for... Gatorade?... no idea about the rest of this picture.

With regard to Gwin, there's this:
http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/forums/2015/12/28/3064/s1200_image.jpg

...but he's actually going to *******.

So there.

Good point(s), although other than maybe Cairns, there's not many "pearly" tracks on the menu IMO. Certainly a one off dh frame could work, but they'd score more bro points with an updated DH9 (ie- a DH9 with a Fox X2).

For someone who has no inside info of any kind I'm going to guess KTM has something to do with Gwin next season.

Moto is taking over man powered cycling. It's always been an influence on man powered bicycles and is really getting in deep with the cycling culture it seems.

Even on local rides... whether it's your local lift mountain or our local trails, lots of past and present local moto riders are lighting up the strava leader boards on mtb's. A lot of cross over is happening.

Everybody amateur and pro alike are riding both moto and bicycle. It's been happening for years but has gotten prominent recently and who better than Gwin to promote it to another level of marketing. We know his true "love" is moto anyway.

Even Troy is going Kawasaki green. Not officially but is just another small piece of the transformation.

Not really... Gwin has been spotted riding a Jake the Snake going up and over the Santa Cruz Mountains heading towards Intense.

I could honestly see Gwin & Martin Whiteley (ugh sleezeball...) team up again on some random bike w/ KTM signing the checks.

Whiteley discontinued the Trek World Racing outfit, but people don't see him as the type of dude that just sits back -- he's a very involved manager. Hint: If you read the text on the infographic from the article here (http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/13018868/), you can see the obvious bias & tell that it's written by Whiteley.

By the most important metric (wins), Gwin did have his 'best' seasons on a Whiteley-run team, and despite the drama over the 'letter of intent' years ago, they're both very no-nonsense personalities and probably work well together. One thing's for sure: they've both made it abundantly clear they care about money #1 (quite frankly, as a fan I have no problem with this).

Top comment on Pb is pretty spot-on though...

Motherfucker won a wc WITH NO CHAIN... For fucks sake, pay the man what he wants.
