How do five tens fit? I have always stayed away from them cause they are so sticky but the lack of good shoe options available has me leaning towards trying a pair.

Ooh, the free shipping is a game changer, their Shipping was always kind of expensive. Time for a new pair of street shoes, my spitfires are a bit haggard after a year of bike, daily, and shop use.

$59 for Hellcat's are a great deal. Easily the most durable BMX-style clipless shoe I've worn.

I think I've been spoiled by SteepandCheap, looked at those rices and about shit a brick, then I looked at retail and realized those were actually pretty good deals. They haven't had any decent sales in a while though.

FWIW, I wear the same size Shimano SPD shoe as 5.10, and a 1/2 size bigger 5.10 than my work boots.

My mom covers the shipping and I already have 3 pair of these so I'm good

On a serious note. Anyone have any experience with the Freeriders that are missing the tread under the ball of the foot?

Seems like a good idea as I often have trouble re-positioning my feet once they are on the pedal. But it also seems like a bad idea because I often have to walk up steep shit so I can ride down steep shit.

I got a pair that fit after a few tries, but the damn things make it feel like I'm wearing watermelons.
I've had the same problem. My feet are not wide, and the fact that they're cut on the wider side, combined with how bulky a lot of them are drove me nuts.

I really like the Guide Tennie as a light duty hiking shoe though.

IMO, they have no benefits at all. Nothing but compromise in every aspect.
I'm very happy to be back on the new Impacts after a couple seasons of those semi-slick freeriders.

I kinda figured that. Well I guess I should just shoe goo my existing shit back together and ride em till they finish dying.

My favorite pair of 5.10s are Freeriders with the missing tread, I dig them. They're fine for hiking, only pair I have that I like to hike in better are the Diddies, and they're a boot, and only marginal for riding. I do however live and ride in SoCal, our trails are drier than a popcorn fart, so the smooth rubber sticks to the rocks decently well. I;ve heard that in some areas, water falls from the sky and creates a substance called mud, and that mud may be really slippery is one tried to hike-a-bike in it without tread on their shoes.

Fuck man, gotta go and give me conflicting information like that. It never rains in NorCal either any more so you may have a point.

The bottoms of my Sam Hills have basically been like those missing tread Freeriders for a few years. I haven't noticed an issue hiking with them, and I use them for all kinds of outdoor activities besides biking (like hauling sound systems up trails). I'm in Norcal as well.

i found the impacts to run roughly true to size, if even a bit small. i have a pair of freeriders i got on sale on amazon last year but haven't really broken them in. just love the impacts that much. i've worn them for so many years now that i don't notice any extra weight/bulk. the quality over the past few years seems to have suffered some, however, as te outsole has quickly separated from the toebox on my last few pairs. sent one pair back, thinking it was defective; happened again. doesn't seem to fully separate past the first half inch or so, though, even after a year or two of riding/trailwork.

thanks dude. Looks like there are several pairs available when searching specifically. Odd that it doesn't work. I might get a set just to have a pair of sneakers.
