Funny thing is those berms they added got rid what was significantly the steepest and most rowdy part of that course in the rutted off camber goodness. Entire course was a D- overall, with that section being a solid C+, and they pulled out one of the only redeeming parts of the trail to replace it with more sandy washed out berms that get destroyed by the 3000000 riders on course in the first day.

But I guess the ebikes probably couldn't have handled that section, so it seems legit.

Damn - thats lame.
Not DH
Not even broduro
Looks like down-the-hill / flatland XC with a touch of flow-trail style berm and jump thrown in to break the monotony.

Shocking.

I ig'nuntly posted this, never really knew what went on @ Sea Otter and assumed it was a DH race (you know, like the name implies?).

Either way glad I could provide another outlet for resistance to the current status of e-bike absurdity. Keep these things off the trails.

Funny thing... The ebike race had a more legit rock garden.

My wife and I raced it in banana suits, here's a shot of her before she flatted twice:

Hate away.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy f**king walrus-looking piece of shit! Get the f**k off of my obstacle! Get the f**k down off of my obstacle! NOW! MOVE IT! Or I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Private Pyle, IF IT SHORT-DICKS EVERY CANNIBAL ON THE CONGO

holy shit. just watched neethling's "preview." i have no words. wait. i do. they include "disgrace to dh," "extended sandy vag," "uphill desert pump track," and "move that chit to nc for a warm weather season kickoff." those assholes should be ashamed of themselves, as should anyone who pays to attend. the only people who deserve any respect there are the shitfaced hecklers. /endrant.

Watching this 15 year old slay all comers and get 2nd place in DS was worth the event plus I had whiskey helping me as usual trackside....

you're just now realizing that sea blotter is just an industry circle jerk and that sponsored riders basically only show up because they're told to?

Pump track and DS, and nothing else. Maybe race the DH track uphill with ebikes.

also appears to be a mass start event. i can only imagine the carnage
It was beautiful. They had pros start last and they had to fight their way through a bunch of drunk costumed idiots, out of shape people who though the race was going to be easy and what I can only guess were some people who legitimately purchased their own ebike and were racing it.

There was a dude on a e-powered road bike on road tires that went down hard in front of me half way up the hill. He took out like 3 or 4 other people in the process.

Sea otter is a spectacle, not a serious race, so in my book the ebike race was one of my favorite things to do that weekend.

I sure did! If it has two wheels, a motor and handlebars I'm down to ride it. Other things I have not turned down in order of displacement: a zero dirt bike, xr50, a moped, a xr100 a ttr-125, my yz250f, a 500 exc, a XR650, ducati super monster.

They were all damn fun too.

Can't argue with that, but I have to wonder at this point if you could just forego the whole ebikes thing and get weird with a bunch of pitbikes (maybe even electric pitbikes?). Beers and banana costumes would of course continue to be encouraged.
That happened as well, just didn't get any pictures in a banana suit... minus the epitbike. Also had a pretty good time on an xtracycle. No pictures of that from this year but this was last year:

All at the Otter? Not bad.

Reminds me of Kaprun '03, when I destroyed Rene Wildhaber's Pit tent on a pitbike.
