Everything is good. Dropped an avy cart in my lyric a few weeks back, impressive given it's a part produced somewhere else entirely by someone else and it threads into the stanchions and through the bottom (no crush washer, uses an o-ring now) just fine. No leaks and works great.

Can't think of too many hiccups I've had recently in the last few years. A bit of fussing with fatbike brake spacing, but other than that, pretty smooth.

Just finished another ride on new M8000 XT stuff. Still drops while backpedaling in granny  and I think I prefer the M820 brakes to these M8000 brakes.

How 'bout them press-fit BBs and the aftermarket cottage industry dealing with that POS?
I have the Praxis conversion BB. It was easy to install right the first time and so far is 104% free of creaks or BS.

What u no like bout XT 8000 brakes?

I really like the feel of those dimples on the lever, like the XTR's on the 8000 XT's. But I had to bleed rear brake right out of the box.

Haha, for shits and giggles I did your request. Surprisingly, yes, engaged at same time. But remember I bled them, out of the box. I know I said just rear, but I think I did both.

I know what you mean tho. These brakes are the first shimanos that have ever pumped up on me. Meaning in the middle of a hairy rocky descent, it was immediate engagement when I pulled the lever. I think the brake still worked, but it felt weird and I was scared. WTF shimano?

It's a design flaw in the taper bore setup. They all do it. Bleeding doesn't fix it. After the first pump, they'll engage in the same place....until you don't squeeze them for a second or two. It doesn't affect braking power like you said.......but it's definitely a 'thing'. It's pumping up but not because of air.

Try it meow. One lever, two squeezes.

Oh my god look at that disgusting bare aluminum cable tension adjuster!

I gotta go puke, be right back.
I know, right? The dropper post is the #1 thing up for replacement. Not so much for that, but because Specialized, external routing, kinda of loose and gets sticky in like 2 rides.

Wondered why my thomson came with a barrel adjuster... there's no need for it. Haven't needed it in the 3 previous seasons. Must be for n00bs or lazy mechanics :)

Im unable to put brand new brake pads in my xo trails without them dragging....have to sand them down about 25%...aside from that they work awesome...

Did you bleed them? Is your rotor straight? I've been known to hand true mine :)

welp, I still have a set of 820s which are dialed, and after enough descents I find the 8000 a bit grabbier and (sometimes) inconsistent by comparison. I wouldn't fault the new XTs one their own and would choose them over the 785s.

i also bled mine immediately upon building the bike.

On the note of the m8000 brakes, mine do engage sooner when I'm grabbing the brake a lot on a long downhillish trail, but its not too bad. I don't have to rethink how to brake or anything.

I'd rather that happen, than them not grab at all. And still better than my Elixirs going to the bar and inducing poop moments.

Note: I didn't bleed them. Heck, I even cut the hoses shorter and also did not bleed them after. Still good. :drag:

Yes usually need a bleed with new pads. Rotors are strait. They don't just drag in one spot. The pistons are compressed as far as they will go and when the pads are new it rubs all the way around. Does it with both front and rear. My friends are the same. It's a small price to pay to not have to ride shimanos
