I dont know the specifics on the weight or the geometry. But I do know that the 06 will be lighter and the Pull Rod can adjust the geomtry to do anything. They are very fun and fast bikes and are capable of everything... (Dirt Jumps - Dh runs)

I currently have a Blur 4x and are quite happy with it. I use it for everything: XC to DH-Light. Would it be possible to do this on the Splinter as well, or am i better off sticking with my 4X?

check out the lounge about freeride bike suggestions. lots of info in there. if i could only have one bike it would be a splinter mx with 2 rear shocks, one short travel air, one avalanche/or manitou instrict revox with tubeless wheels, drs guide, and a travel adjust travis sc on it. perfect for everyhting from street to dh. the new one is lighter but has more travel bb and wheelbase vary as you adjust the pull rod so its kind of irrelavent. my frame with a dhx air (mxs version) weights around 7.5-8lbs i think, weighted it on a decent scale this time last year.

I would highly recomend the splinter mx, The bike can be used for everything, it is incredably adjustable. I have mine setup with a pushed Vanilla RC, Boxxer Ride and MTX wheels and it weghts in around 40lbs. It pedals very well. With my boxxer i can make it be a 5"-5" trail bike a 6"-6" freeride or a 7"-6" DH bike. For me the bike has been a confidense builder. The geo can be set exactly how you like it. It can be adjusted from 69* ha with 14.5" bb to 63* HA with 10.5" bb(not very useful)

another question: Would it be possible to run a CK rearhub with funbolts. The bolts are only 10mm but one could make a sleeve to get them up to 12mm..wouldn´t that work (or maybe even make new bolts all together...)? I am pretty sure it would. Can anyone tell me if both drop-out holes are just holes, and not threaded? If one of them are threaded my plan would not work so great...

Also, is the ISCG mount the old one or the new 05 standart?

Thanks for the help!

The left side is threaded. The ISCG tabs are standard pre-'05, but they are to the proper spec.

Your Blur is going to be lighter, but the Splinter is going to be more versatile, and pretty much bombroof. My MXS is my favorite bike hands-down.

darn it...so I guess there is now way I could run a CK rear hub on this frame...I have to either rethink my plan about getting a new wheelset or just keep my Blur 4X.

Or am I missing an option here? Is there any way I could make i work?

Ask for a Splinter ER rear end, it is interchangeable and QR. There is also the option of lathing up new spacers for the hub that will allow you
to run at thru-axle, as the ID of the bearings in a king hub is 19mm. Someone on here has done it before.

ahh yes.. I guess one could take a Heavy duty axel, put it in a lathe, and drill out the inner diameter to fit a 12mm through axel...that would work!

I've read posts on here where people have modified their King HD axles for 12mm thru use. If I remember correctly, it was simple as drilling/machining away the threaded portion inside the ends of the axle. The rest of the axle had an i.d. that fit great on the 12 mm.

can somebody buy that frame that's been sitting in the classifieds for a year? it's like $280 now.
I tried to but he insisted that I paypal as a gift (I at first did send it as a regular payment and included extra to cover the fee), but he refunded that. I asked for his info and where he was shipping it from, but he would not provide me with that information. So that was enough to pass on it.

Yep. Spent more of it's life as a decoration, even though I once had it built with a 888 and used it at Mt Baldy.

Shit I considered buying it too. Now I don't.
