I Slept in until 7 this morning and I do not have a damn thing to do all day if that's what I choose... rains are expected by 2PM otherwise overcast and mild. That's leaves pretty big ride window, I'm hoping for more rattle snake and will bring the camera...

Post today's ride pics or it didn't happen...

Good morning from the Ingles homestead, deep in the heart of crackerstan south Dakota. Went for a morning run as the sun came up. I will confess I find this place strangely beautiful. I also developed a bit of nostalgia wandering through De Smet as I ended my run. Coffee, eggs, and a doughnut in the local cafe/drugstore. They aren't growing oranges here, but that seems to be about the only difference between south Dakota small farming communities and California small farming communities. It has an appeal I find hard to deny.

I'm a big fan of small towns and farm communities and also S Dakota over N Dakota.

In hell. Welcome!
Got a thai wake up call at 5:30 this morning :banghead:.
Rode with a colleague at 8AM, his first time on my trails. He has great skills from competing in trials but needs to ride A LOT more. :busted: It was balls hot early and it is not getting any better. :dead:

At a music festival at Grand a targhee. 50 miles of epic trails, including lift served 4000 foot descent. Great XC and dh action, perfect for my dentist bike (Rocky Altitude). Great music too . Psyched for Grace Potter and Drive by Truckers!

sucks @jonKranked hope you're feeling less bummed today.

took the 6yo to the us nat'l whitewater center trails for his first "trail" ride-the beginner loop, which was like a slightly hilly gravel greenway with a tiny bit of trail at the end. maybe 3-4 miles total. he did good on his 20" bmx. maybe hit the real "green"trail next time. got frozen lemonades after and watched people ziplining.

Dentist bike on dentist trails:

No, I didn't clean it. Yes, I tried a few times. Those rocks added the first chips to my bike's paint, albeit not from falling but rather from the bike tipping over after this photo. :D

(Belcher -> Maverick -> Longhorn -> Shorthorn all the way back to Belcher for those who may know/care. Some kind of trail running race going the other way on Maverick was kind of a pain in the ass. :D)

Today I took the hard tail out for what ended up to be a 3 hour spin on the north shore of the Missouri river, I covered about 17 or 18 miles. The entire out and back of this trail is about 28 miles if you don't take any shortcuts.
View media item 2897The first stop is Little Moab, a particularly scenic 6 feet of trail a few miles in, the arch itself measures nearly 2 feet tall.
View media item 2896Next we have our very own rock garden conservation area, with rock gardens being so rare in the area we are prohibited from riding in it.
View media item 2899Here is the southern approach to Ryan Dam, one of 5 dams in the immediate area.
View media item 2901Here is the same dam looking south from a ridge.
View media item 2895Here is Serial Midget looking cool & sophisticated but still wondering if Eric's middle aged booby show on horseback is better...

Awesome ride today. Trails were dusty dry, except for that one puddle, which of course I ran through. :D

Now picking clay out of my leg hair...

Felt like shit last night. Better today. Went to bed early and slept in. Wife went to a baby shower, I stayed home and played Call of Duty like a bum to kill time before an overtime shift.

Very sorry to hear that, @jonKranked. Our cat pretends to be a 3rd adult in our household and will be very missed one day.

Great riding pics everyone. I did not hit my local "little Moab" today ;), I suspect every place has one.

Ever have the feeling you're due for a crash ? Had a couple of close calls tonight. Slid out and into the bench cut. Then narrowly missed slamming my collar bone into a tree. Good thing a Spitfire can change direction instantly.

Dressage Show ran late tonight so Instead of a ride I threw on my running gear and did a 35 minute loop out on the cross country track. I forgot how much effort it takes to run hills in loose dirt. Feeling a bit dead legged right now. So after a cold non alcoholic Guiness I made some pan blackened Salmon with a Kale Salad for dinner
