I'm up early because of excitement for the coming weekend and making a list of what I need to bring and what I don't need to bring. Work for 2 1/2 days and off to ND. :)

I refreshed the stans in my hard tail last night, surprising how fast is dries up. I need to buy a spare chain and tire for the trip. The only tires in this town are branded Specialized.

I should go back to bed.

How often do you put stans I your tires? The dude who showed me tubeless told me you want to put stans in once a month. I've been doing this with no problems. I recently read an article from stans saying 2-7 months should be ok. So I'm curious what your stans schedule is ? Also specialized tires are the shit.

Busy weekend with very little adventuring. Spent Saturday repairing and resetting marble gravestones from the late 1800's. Yesterday I took my daughter mountain biking. We did 8 miles and she tried a couple techy trails. Did pretty good. Only had one crash towards the end of the ride. Then we had snacks. I love snacks.

'Morning! I am sore as hell. 12:07 in my Ironman in heavy rain and wind. Those were some rough conditions. I had an awesome race though.

1:30 swim
6:15 bike (17.8 mph)
4:07 run (9:33 pace)

I finished 721 overall, which is top 25%. WOO HOO!

Once a year maybe.

Wound up building a section of stone wall for no particular reason yesterday.

Feeling a bit stiff but that will pass once I get moving today. Enjoying my coffee and my dogs this morning. I sometimes forget how much fun it is to rip down an empty trail with good sightlines in the late afternoon. I didn't see a single other sole out there until I reached the trail head on my way home.

Congratulations! I'm not sure what it was like up in Tremblant but here (about 80mi away) it poured rain most of the day. Probably about the time you would have been biking. that must have sucked. hard. that's a long day of being active.... congrats!

Not sure what happened, but I spent most of yesterday in the fetal position and woke up again this morning at 5am. I'd like to say that I pooped, but it was more of a numba' one.

Ugh.

Tonight's ride is questionable.

Mornin!

Went out for a nice, leisurely ride yesterday. Didn't focus on going fast at all, just cruised along with a smile on my face. Except of course for the woman who admonished me for not having a bell, despite explaining to her that I was waiting for a convenient place to pass and like to say hello to people. *BRING BRING GET THE FUCK OUT MY WAY*

Also went and checked out some more RVs. If everything works to plan I have an extended road trip in my not so distant future.

Morning Monkeys.

I haven't slept for sh!t in a few days. Sucks, but at least the office is quiet so I can nap. Looking forward to starting my new fitness regiment. I figure if I can get in reasonable shape, I will finally part with the beloved RM7 and buy myself something moar Enduroish. So many bikes, I need to hit some demo days.

I figure by next year I will have passed the DJ to my son to ride with his son and the CX will still serve as the semi-roadie (gravel bike?). I'm still not fat, but my muscle mass is pathetic and my overall fitness is sh!t. Getting old sucks ass. I told my wife "I was never expected to make it past 35 so I've been winging it for the last decade".

Saturday was a brutal wake up call. Still had a damn good time doing it, though. I was almost tempted to put a modern fork on the RM7 and just keep rocking it, but at 42lbs, its not "all-mountain" friendly.

<edit> Since the RM7 is the 2001 FR edition, is it considered "vintage" and now worth serious coin?

Working on getting yourself a severance package, eh?

I am at work, relaxing after a busy feeling weekend. Ride/Costco/mowing/grilling Saturday, Wife 5k/farmer's market/REI/pool/saddest little jogging attempt yesterday. Shit's exhausting.

Good morning dammit.
Working at home this week. hope to squeeze in a few lunch rides.

@jimmydean - sentimental attachment aside, ditch the rm7. it's time. Many new bikes are so so good.

Oh, I know. I actually bought it for a friend to race DH back in 2008, I think. He literally never rode it, so I took it from him and I ride it from time to time. But I don't ride much at all (especially the last few years since I moved) because it is a beast and I'm not too close to many trails.

I know if I had something else I would ride way more. But for real DH, that bike still kicks ass (minus the Super T fork).

It started raining 20 miles into the bike and didn't let up until 10K left to go in the run. The rain might have been tolerable by itself, but the wind made for some long suffering. Even on the long, gradual downhills when you can normally let your legs rest a little, I had to keep cranking to keep the bike moving. Luckily it was 75 degrees and not a cold day.

Morning. $hit is getting real for the big ND trip. Pulled out the camping gear yesterday and put in a tote. Picking beers today & plan on eating cake at least once today. Family surprised me with a bday part on Saturday after a nice fast mtb ride with Sqearl.

Road ride with local roadies was a bust, I checked at 5:30 to make sure the ride was on, I was told yes. By the time I got there at 6:15 they had cancelled due to high winds but I didn't find out until 6:30. Pussies. I was windy but WTF do they expect in central Montana? I rode anyway, 25MPH sustained with 40 MPH gusts. Not unusual.

I ended up getting a Specialized Butcher for a spare tire. Now for a HUGE shrimp salad and an overdose of garlic bread.

edit: Slaughter, its a Slaughter.
