Coffee be very good this dark time of the morning. Driving the truck and camper is funn during commute hours as I make use of the largest vehicle gets the right of way rules :busted:

Good ride on the new trail last night. but holy hell was it friggin humid. jersey was completely soaked through, I was able to ring it out. this new trail is pretty old school, mostly natural with only 2 or 3 berms in it. It leads to some well established but equally old-school single track. It was only a 6 mi ride, with 850' elevation gain, over 1.5 hours moving time. Doesn't seem like much, but was it ever a kick in the pants... I like trails like that!

it's time to Friday!

Hi all. I am ready for the work week to be done.

We couldn't see Yuna on the bed cam or the room cam so I had to peek in to find her. She apparently exited bed and fell back asleep in the middle of the night between the bookshelf and rocking chair.

Sounds like it's time to get an angle-grinder.

Morning Monkeys.

Why do folks gotta make stuff difficult? I like my job and my boss, so I guess it could be way worse. Weird how this whole pay and compensation stuff works. As a contractor, you make on average $10/hour more than an FTE in the same role. Of course you get no bonus or perks or corp bennies. So on average I was paying about 3x what an FTE pays for my shit medical/dental and no 401k match or bonus. But nobody looks at that. They look at what the FTE makes per hour and some say no thanks. But the reality is the paycheck on a take home basis is almost the same and the end of year bonus (up to 15% base pay) puts it way over the top.

That is why it's called "total package compensation", it's more than my supposed hourly rate. But I am salary, not hourly, so my hourly rate is math based, not time or effort based.

'Morning! Day 5 of sleeping my vacation away. 10 hours of solid sleep each of the last three nights and I regret nothing. I did go for a real easy 3 mile jog this morning. Tomorrow I take the bike back out.

I figured out a while back that I'd have to make just shy of twice my nominal base pay as a 1099 contractor without benefits to achieve parity, between the bonus, insurance, etc. benefits.

[rant] Over the last few years, we have bought a bunch of movies for Haley through Amazon and Google Play. The new car has a DVD player, so we were planning on burning those movies to DVD so that she can watch them in the car. Apparently, neither applications allow you to download the movies to DVD anymore. You can only watch them through approved apps. And in both cases, if Amazon or Google lose contracts with media providers, I lose access to the movies.
That more than pisses me off. I drop $15 for a movie and I don't even own it? Fuck that. Both just lost our business for those services. I'd rather spend money at Walmart or even Best Buy if it allows me to keep ownership of my own purchases. [/rant]

That is complete BALLS about not having access to previously purchased items. Might as well call it a rental service.

There must be a way...

I've stopped using iTunes for any purchases for similar reasons. YouTube seems to be the way to go.

my solution to this is to buy the multipack disc - blu ray, dvd, digital download. its a little more expensive, but allows that kind of flexibility for viewing.

fwiw amazon prime you can download (some) shows/movies for offline viewing on a tablet. supposedly this is coming to netflix as well.

also? no blu ray in the car? dvd only??

Used interchangably. And we have been doing multipacks as of late, I just wanted to burn older movies.

can your rugrat not operate a tablet? or are you just unwilling to relinquish control?
She can handle it. She has Netflix dialed, but hasn't had to watch Amazon or Google Play much, so it's new navigation for her.
