The first was my Fisher Cake4. Cracked right in front of the top tube/seat tube gusset. Shop was great in warranty/replacement with a Trek FuelEX9 frame. I've been having a great time with it, until today. Coming in to the final corner/straight, galaxies collided as I applied brakes/cornered/hit a squirrel, heard a snap and felt the rear end get squishy. Stopped to check, and sure enough, I now have a new kickstand, as the left chainstay failed right at the front welding. About a mile-ish walk home, calling the local shop that set me up, and took it in.

Hopefully, the stay is all that needs replacing. I'm still a 26 whore, so going larger is not in my nearest future.

At least I still have my hardtail to ride until it's repaired.....

since you are original owner trek will likely take care of you. give the age of the bike, based on what i've seen when i was a shop mechanic, they will offer you a current gen comparable model to the one you owned (if they don't have the replacement component). whether or not this is still a 26" frame will be determined by their current model lineup. if they do bump you to something 27.5", talk to the shop and see if they'll give you a discount on the necessary parts to upgrade it and ride it properly (ie fork, wheels, headset, BB, etc).

just checked their lineup, no 26" FS bikes/frames that are comparable to yours (only kids bikes and slopestyle frames). so you'll likely get bumped to a 27.5 (if they have no old stock of anything comparable in 26").

They probably don't have all the different colors, but I bet they have a stock of neutral black 26" stays. The age of 26" wasn't that long ago and there are still plenty enough 26" bikes in the field to justify having service parts.

for companies like trek/sped/giant that do the sales volume (and have the warehouse space) sure.

They most likely don't have all the distinctive hues, however I wager they have a load of nonpartisan dark 26" sits tight. The age of 26" wasn't that long back and there are still bounty enough 26" bicycles in the field to legitimize having administration parts.

Spoke with the shop. Still reviewing.

Since the earlier-said Cake4 was no longer produced, that's why I was upgraded to the Fuel. Hopefully, Trek will have swing arms in stock, no matter the color, to replace it. If not, it will be interesting to see if they "enlarge" my wheels. Then, at least I can swap most parts over. Fork, tires, and rims/spokes (to rebuild the wheels with existing hubs) will be all I'll need to replace.

Either way, I know the LBS will take care of me. They have in the past.....
