When the Atom first came out (and was built in Ashland, Oregon) it was spec'd at $35k and while still expensive in my mind for a "toy" car, it was one of the fastest cars out at that time (#4 @ 1:15 on Top Gear). The company was sold and the car ballooned to $50k and that is just insane. Now you are talking close to X-Bow prices (start at $85k not street legal).

Some people have too much money. :D

As other cars without such a fucked up engine/drive configuration get faster and faster around turns, how does Porsche keep their cars competitive? Keep making them wider and wider and with ever-wider tires. It's a design that has reached the end of it's use, it's not optimal, it costs more money and requires more exotic engineering to make it go "as fast" as everything else. I think a wide car looks good, but looking at the history of the 911, it seems like they have no place to go but wider, and you have any idea what 325 tires cost?

Not sure when it started but the Turbo S comes all wheel drive and all wheel steering making it insanely fast both in a straight line and around a corner. The fact that the engine placement makes no sense, yet they have made the best out of a horrible design is equally crazy,

I am not a huge fan, but I do appreciate them. I had a '15 wait for me at the top of Rocky Point Rd once. I was pushing my car pretty damn hard and the 911 looked like it was hardly trying. We both had fun, though and I'm sure he could have left me had he tried.

But I'm sure a Corvette looks a lot the same from a C1 to C7. Hell, the C7 Z06 is running 335 rear tires. :rofl:
