Front Range, dude...
I think shuttling road bike rides is the answer here. Just keep the wind at your back, then call your ride when it runs out or shifts. You may be in Kansas by then, but...

I was wondering on my ride yesterday "Who the hell needs hills?" when I had to pedal 30 fucking miles straight into a 20-30 mph headwind. :dead: It was all I could do to keep moving at 14 mph.

Road riding or running uphill in tailwind on hot muggy days=worst ever.

My dad was part of the team in the 1970's that did a huge amount of the mapping of the cave. Listening to some of his stories always amazes me that he survived.
cavers/spelunkers are fucking insane....period.

Yes. My favorite story is from trips to mexico. They got stuck by water from going out any farther, but could see an air bell about 30ft out. Their plan to continue was to tether somebody and have them swim to the bell to set a line to traverse via. They pulled straws and this guy, Mark (who I'm named after), made the swim. Took a huge breath of air and it was methane; he passed out immediately. When the rope lost tension, they dragged him back and resuscitated him, then going a different way. People say some of the shit I've done is insane, but that's next level shit.

there is a caver/spelunker who posts on the photography on the net forum and i always wonder when i haven't seen a post from him in awhile is if it is because he is trapped under the earth somewhere and hasn't been found yet....

If you have to take off your scuba tank to move through the cave THAT IS A RED FLAG THAT THE CAVE IS TOO SMALL AND YOU SHOULD NOT GO PAST!
