Funny, Danny Hart is on the 29. Remember in Lourdes Jonesy was like, well yeah for big guys like Minnaaar it makes sense, but not for someone like Danny Hart. LOL
Danny Hart is actually 5,10. I thought he is way smaller because Warner always said that and he looks really small on the bike.

But how in the hell did we get here??? 275 took over and made 26 obsolete. Now 29 will make 275 obsolete within such a short amount of time. Stupid hub standards, BB standards. What was the point of even going with 275??

Who decides all this shit?!

It's basically an unstoppable process that with the internet media and the industry become one and the same. I have insight in a different business but there are basically influencers working full-time in marketing, selling their stuff via a big online retailers while praising it in their own yt-channel. It's capitalism stupid.

But what would be more interesting: if some of the smaller brands with fast guys like yt don't have 29ers right away or what happens when the tracks become more technical. As far as I can remember ratboy won the last wc on 26 when the field was stacked with 650b so maybe that happens again but I really don't care anymore. Shit is getting ridiculous with these new standards. For a short time I ogled a boost-frame but when I get it a new standard might already made it obsolete so I just bought a bike that suits me geometry and spec-wise...

Ok so when everyone goes 29, the playing field will be even and everyone will be faster. Great. I guess I find it suspicious that 275 was flaunted as so much better than 26 (which it wasn't)...then a few short years later, 29 is about to take over. They should have skipped 275 altogether. Maybe it's because the industry started seeing 29 is a good option for gravity (enduro racing) and immediately knew it would work for DH. I don't know....

His cornering looks way off in that video especially from apex to exit. And ground speed in the straights doesn't look appreciably faster compared to what I've seen from other top riders on the same track.

WTF are you on about?
He just did a cruiser run while being slowed by riders in 4min 40ish (pretty much his finals time last year)

funnily enough.. my initial thoughts on 'Size's comment was that for once this headcam was a rider actually using different lines to most, Danny skips around pinging in and out of smarter lines a fair bit on sections where most other riders just hold on and ride the chop. (it's a lot rougher than all the headcams show).

See the course tape with the warning sign hung in the middle at 2:33?

New section for the WC just to cheer you up.

[ hugs ]
my comment wasn't a dig on anyone or anything, just that after dozens of POV vids from this track they all kind of look the same to me. same for all the POV's of every other track that is run every season.

Yeah. I was just taking the piss. I absolutely get where you're coming from. GoPros don't portray a track well at all and TBF despite it's roughness and length Ft Bill is one of the most one line tracks on the WC circuit. I've actually said many times that I'd like it if the WC would visit more venues and every few years take a break from Ft bill completely. the track does get the odd new section every few years and they do a fair bit of maintenance before every world cup there but it's still very samey to watch year after year.

It's not all that obvious from the footage alone but knowing that track so well and knowing what lines you take, how punishing certain sections are and the sort of times you can do yourself it's kinda sickening seeing how effortless Danny's run looks while absolutely smashing it.

Somehow this smells like a long-planned marketing-coup. I mean come on, the mtb-industry is pretty small. The media guys basically switch jobs with industry guys on a regular basis. Sven Martin owns vital and is the bro of rob roskopp etc.

All of a sudden after evererybody and their mum switched to 650b (I'm just in the process of doing it #Yolo) 29ers are _THE_STANDARD_ for montainbikes because "they are faster! What a shame we can't do blind-tests with mtbs" :p" and multiple brands come up with 29er two weeks after Santa Cruz pioneered them in the first race. I call bullshit!
didn't you get the memo? YOU ALREADY SAID WAY TOO MUCH, HIDE!!!!111111
