Weather has really turned to crap in Denmark and it does not look like it will get better for the rest of my vacation. It might be a struggle to finish painting the garage. I'm not surprised as this is typical Denmark. At least I had an amazing early summer as all of May was brilliant. Normally it gets nice just as the kids have to start school. Still alone with the kids so I think I will take them to Tivoli Gardens today. I have not been since I was a kid

Besides the weather the one other issue is cost of cars. They are taxed really high. I wanted to bring back the Volvo but it did not make sense as I would have to pay really high yearly taxes based on age of car and its mileage. It really sucks as I love that car. Here I can only get it with a diesel which makes no sense. I really should get a electric car with the few miles of mostly city driving we will end up doing. I thing the BMW 3 with the plug in hybrid would have been perfect but that is 77,000 car in Denmark and you can't get it in the wagon version.

Work. Instead of hitting the snooze button, I just got up and left. Already need moar coffee.

Two weeks, two days since separating my shoulder. Shit is still messed up, but feeling better. Today was the first day that I drove to work without the sling on, which was awesome to be able to hold the steering wheel while shifting, but can't steer at all with the left hand.

Mornin!

Bike's in the truck and I'm mentally preparing myself for the long, hot, slow slog up some big hill for the express purpose of riding down with a big old smile on my face.

I recently visited our Danish distributor and when the CEO picked me up from the airport i couldn't help but wonder why he was driving a fairly beat up Audi wagon. Then he mentioned the 180% tax and it all made sense.

Hell(o)(o) my friends!! 2400 yard swim before work. I think the pain in my rolled ankle has subsided just enough to allow me to race my Tuesday off road triathlon tonight. And I am sure it'll hurt like hell after the race and will set me back a few more days, but I'm a baller.

My wife wanted to make a fire last night. It was kinda chilly out at 6pm.

Good Morning!!!

I had formulated a solid plan on my 40-minute drive into work. A real solid plan. I was confident, I strolled through the entrance with my forehead reflecting the radiance from my dome like a Caravaggio painting.

Then, I made the mistake of opening my email, and that all blew up in my face.

I'm going to drop back and punt...get some additional coffee and see if I can't locate that voodoo doll of me someone has obviously created and cleverly hidden in this office.

rode new to me trails over the weekend, half hour drive. about half double track, half single. still some exploring to do. were decent, but i wouldn't say i'm in a rush to go back.

found ANOTHER set of new to me trails yesterday (via internetz). these ones are 10 minutes away. less mileage than the other "local" trails i ride, but apparently more elevation and some jumps. hoping to check them out this weekend.

also, dentist wheels.

Here. Didn't have the chance to look at the Subaru overheating last night, but it made it home just fine. The coolant tank was a bit low, but nothing else and there was normal fill height when I got home. Not sure what would have caused the issue. I might just flush it this weekend and check all of the hoses for loose connections.

New position just came up in my department at work, no longer with individual investors, but on plan level. It's right in my wheelhouse from prior work experience and I'm getting the push from one of the current team members and guys that works directly with that group to go for it. I'll be spending today buffing up the resume for submission. Apparently our company requires that you notify your manager that you are applying for another position internally, which should be amusing... At least there is no way they can justify not allowing me to, as I am the top performer on our team in all (literally all) aspects of rating for management.

Planning on getting the Yeti up and running tonight for an evening ride tomorrow. That's all I've got.

Put some new grips on the Yeto last night and monkeyed around with the shock, put in a small volume spacer to help with some harsh bottoming I have been experiencing.

HOme from vacation and digging out of emails. Fishing sucked at the beach and I drank way less than I thought I would. Probably because it was hotter than Hell on both counts. Some family was great and some family really made me reassess an initial decision to enter into a real estate partnership we are planning. I may be dodging a bullet, or I may be losing access to a beach property that has been part of my life for the last 30 years and for all of my kid's lives so far.

Broccoli elastic or road tube? I bet you went vegan...

I'm still waiting on my new shock hardware. The jiggle is worsening!

I am having trouble getting started at work these days. The dread of updating my project schedule is strong. I know what it is going to say, and nobody is going to want to hear it. Groan.

two rides so far. general impressions: stiffer, more composed when leaned over, cockpit is longer (but that's based on numbers), doesn't climb quite as well (due to longer front end), there are differences in suspension, but i chalk a lot of that up to the fact that both bikes run different shocks. i had a dbinline on the spitty, in retrospect seemed a little wallowy, but i was also at the very top of the recommended weight range.

29 vs. 27.5 - That's the discussing I'm having right now.
Coming off of 26" I couldn't feel much of a difference going to 27.5" but it was quite a bit more pronounced when trying 29ers. Wagon wheels seemed a bit too unwieldy to me which ruled those options out.

Interesting... when I rode my first 27.5" bike the wheels felt yuuuuuuuuuuge. Maybe I was just expecting them to feel that way?
Honestly, the only difference I really notice is that I roll over and off of things easier with the 27.5. Then again when it comes to bike setup I'm a close enough is good enough kinda guy, ymmv.

Would seem to me 29" would be size appropriate for you.
I demo'd a few specialized 29 inch wheel bikes last year, for my size they felt too big and hard to control on tight trails, the frames were mediums which also contributed to the lack of comfort / control. I would think a tall guy like stoney would benefit from larger wheels... you dont see brodozers with tiny wheels.
