That's it man. I'm coming to Colorado and stealing your fanny pack and setting it on fire. And I'm putting you on a chairlift with a dh bike. I'm worried about you
where would you suggest we ride? Winter Park? Keystone? Sol-Vista?

All these lift access resorts (in Colorado) are more fun and faster on a trail bike.

I'm not telling you to do anything. Hauling ass on any bike is fun. I'm just worried that you really think a 140mm travel trail bike is a dh bike. But mostly that rude will never race the bikes most appropriate to his smashing again. Because watching him push a dh rig is way better than him getting his bazillionth wheel destroyed on a trail bike.

Don't know about the rest of you folks, but I have a really difficult time getting interested in enduro. I'm sure they're doing just fine and don't need me, but I wonder how widespread this feeling is among folks who have been bike racing fans/participants over the years.
DH is a lot better to watch for the most part and a helluva lot easier to cover for the media squids. I'll watch pretty much any kind of racing that involves bikes on dirt, but DH is just the best for intensity and awesomeness. Enduro has it's good sections (heck most Enduro races use DH courses or partstherof) but they're so spread out (more than XC by far) that coverage is a nightmare.

I have enjoyed the two Enduro races I've done though and find it more similar (courses and bikes) to what I was riding when I started racing DH in the mid-90s. Stupidly hard work though.

Some things are better left in the 90s for gentlemen our age.
Not only are all those things far too accurate, I now have no rain stuck in my head.

It'd be exactly the same...

Really? I find it pretty decent to watch if the coverage reflects the descending and not the liason stages.

Even more entertaining that the racing is the tantrums and whinges from the threatened "shredder-bros" and hectic radcore gnar riders about how boring it is watching some of the world's best riders ride the f'n wheels off of little bikes.

If its good enough for Hill, Masters, Ropelato, Minaar, Brosnan, Fearon, ACC and Mosely but not hectic enough for you then you're a wild man.

I am going to bet that Gary is talking about watching it vs actually riding it.

Your list above likely does love riding it but likely doesn't actually watch much of it.

I for one really enjoy racing it but have kinda lost the interest in watching it, but I still really enjoy watching the DH WC.

I think most of the coverage should just be Vital RAW style of the gnarliest sections being ripped. If a particular enduro venue doesn't have a good Vital RAW worthy section it should be dropped from the series.

Really!

I'm bored by it. Properly bored. I want to be entertained while watching bike riding/racing coverage. It just never really happens in Enduro. Good (even great) riders... Yes. the racers are mostly descending. but the riding style to watch is nothing like downhill racing. the tracks and format dictate that in order to do well at the sport all the risk and flamboyancy is minimised and there's very little edge of your seat excitement while spectating.
Take the headcam above. Dull as fuck! sorry. i'm really not meaning to offend the guy riding but it's a guy riding mainly single track huffing and puffing while pedalling a lot. Fuck all RAD about it!
So... er... no thanks.

I'm an old cynical man. Dude. you know this.

Watching Hill ride Enduro makes me sad... if you payed attention to his race runs around 10 years back I find it hard to understand how it doesn't for you too.

I've been a Hill fan for years. I was actually saying recently that watching him rip the Nukeproof mega around reminds me more of 2005 Sam Hill than the last couple of years of DH (with some fantastic exceptions of course).

The coverage is always going to look a bit weak unfortunately as long as the courses have the token long sprinting sections and whatever. The Vital RAW clip from Aspen was pretty decent even if only to watch the 2 minutes of every rider hitting the same corner in the same style only for Dailly to set up high and carve nicely, then have Hill come through sliding everywhere, smash the inside line and square off out of the corner like a boss.

It's the nature of the event I guess - I can't see myself getting up in the middle of the night to watch an EWS race in Europe on Redbull the same way I do for WC DH. But there are people that find watching the Tour de France interesting so I guess there is something for everyone out there.

When dudes skidding around a switchback and getting thrilled that one of them cut a corner is awesome .........you're definitely into enduro. :D

I don't really care what people are into but to me watching pinners on trailbikes like that is like watching early 90s dh. People just forced to way override their equipment to the point that it looks kind of goofy. Especially knowing there are options out there that would let them go even faster. I'm in the 'more fun to do than watch' camp.

and jump to about 4:30 in to see what toodles is talking about, surely that won't make you sad.
If you and @toodles keep posting these videos with times for my lazy ass to jump to, I'm going to keep watching EWS clips. That was sick.

Are you serious?
The part he said to jump to was cool as, I thought.

I'm as "enduro" as you, but this is just one thread - you can just not click it if you don't like it?

The dude in the video above beat most of the field and was 11 seconds behind Hill with a crash and you're hatin on the guy?
Why don't you post some headcam and highlight videos if this riding is so lame?

I don't need to sensor myself Udi. I'm just genuinely surprised Downhill riders/fans find something so mediocre as... Well... What Woo already put into words perfectly above... cool.

If Hill had hucked the drop and transferred across to the left of the "sheep" line. used the outside to set-up THEN drifted the off camber inside. Now that would actually have been cool.

That's it. Must hold a bike-off. Winner gets the hot chick.

Is "I don't like watching golf" the same thing as "I'm better at golf than them?"

No. As I already said. I'm not hating on the rider at all. The video was dull. Most headcams are. Especially headcams of Enduro tracks.

Yeah but you're not signing up for golf forums just to say you don't like golf.

We get it - Enduro isn't as exciting to watch as Stromlo, Pietermaritzburg and Leogang. The tracks aren't as widely varied and as new as Ft Bill and Monte Saint-Anne. And the series leader can barely ride a technical course to save his life and wouldn't stand a chance in a "real" DH race.

Isn't this the Downhill & Freeride forum?

Is there an Enduro forum?
