I shall find out as soon as I'm allowed to ride again. My little meniscus hick up turned out more serious during arthroscopy than I was hoping for. I got a new access into the inner workings of my knee, done by a 6 mm drill through my tibia.
I shall also try to borrow a pov cam device or ask a friend to follow us next time we ride.
Here is a pic of the suspension. The setup is not trivial, totally different loads. All my shocks have far too much compression damping. Best try was a propedal RP23 so far, but far from perfect. With Kashima of course ;-)
Looking at the price tag when buying new makes you sure.
I hope you can at least get the shock PUSHed.

That's good to hear. The bike has been great so far, with no unpleasant surprises, so I guessed that was the case. Still, it's good to hear. I figured someone on here must know him. Dealing with Harry was really pleasant too. I'm going to see about doing a road trip down there this winter.
thanks for that. It looks awesome, but wow is it expensive. I already have a chariot cx1, but those aren't really singletrack compatible. My big one is almost on her own bike, and my little one is a bit too small. maybe though!
It sure is. I was happy to get it from a friend of mine whose boys outgrew it. Even second hand they cost about 1k Euro over here. So a high starting investment but also high return a few years later.
But it's pretty simple, it is the only real mountain bike trailer available and where there is no competition prices are set right at customers financial pain barrier (is that English?).
And boy it works really well.
Being able to ride singletrack with the kid would be pretty awesome. The chariot is too bumpy for her, and the trails around here are decidedly not smooth. 8" of travel might get me back on the trails and with no pressure from Mama either. There is nothing like it that I've seen...of course it's a euro thing, because in the US there might have to be an additional 18 roll bars. The hate I got for my ibert frog seat was pretty crazy.

Those things are awesome. I tried one and couldn't pedal with it, but having them right up there between your arms would have been great.

I've been using it for 6 years now. I think this is the last season on it though, as my youngest is turning 5 over the winter, and will likely be too heavy for it next year. He's going to have to pedal his self to school next year.

Oh I've crashed. a couple of times. washing out in gravel both times. I hate gravel. But the kids wear helmets, and are well ensconced back there. No harm done to the kids whatsoever. I had pretty bad road rash on my elbows though. IMO the bike seats beat the Chariots for two reasons: a) they're not dangling 4 feet behind you in the path of inattentive drivers, and b) I've tipped a Chariot too. I came around a corner, and there was a giant pothole. One of the wheels of the Chariot hit the pothole, bounced, and tipped over. There was a car right behind me that had to jam on the breaks to avoid running into us. It was actually the daycare manager, and she was being cautious, but I was freaked the fuck out.
The main lesson I took away was, you can't totally eliminate risk, but you can minimize repercussions of accidents. The biggest way to minimize those repercussions is to ride very slowly and deliberately. I also take sidewalks on busy streets. I yield to pedestrians and try and be polite. In 6 years, I've only been told off twice for being on the sidewalk. Most people aren't idiots and get it.
i don't use mine on any roads at all. i've got a great set of paved rail trails 5 minutes from me. total non-issue.
also, now that i have 2 kids...
also worth noting: my kid isn't even 2 1/2 yet and is above the weight limit for those style of seats.
you must have different parenting rules than me.

I sold my DH bike and didn't buy a new one. I kinda feel naked without one, but I did get this thing and ordered some DH wheels and tires for it for those lift assisted mountain biker days:

the ones i recall pulling up online were rated around 40lbs max. my son is already like 43 or 44lbs. also, knowing we would ultimately be having 2 those seats were not a viable option.
Mine goes up to around 48lbs... kiddo is roughly 32lbs atm... hope it works next spring!

Here she is, I'm beyond stoked to get a ride on this thing. Still waiting on a 500lb spring but the 550 will have to do for now.
I really thought my Hightower would be a big wheeled version of the Nomad 3, but I ended up being highly disappointed with it in almost all aspects.
I'm excited to ride a bike that actually fits my geometry needs.
