seems weird that it's the same price. High end, carefully crafted air spring? Expensive. Dummy rod and a coil? Less expensive.
was it cane creek or someone else that said their coil springs would be offered in 7 weights? guessing it's not CC because i don't see it listed on their website.

I believe that was MRP. You get 3 springs with the fork and several additional weights in their store.
yea didn't they just launch the ribbon fork as coil? it's like all of a sudden coil forks are back.

now that i think about it there was some aftermarket company that was gonna offer like 7 weights of springs in 25lb increments. or am i losing it?

Could it have been Dave Garlands company?

PUSH is doing 7 spring weights as well. https://www.pushindustries.com/collections/fork-products/products/acs3-fork-spring?variant=136462172184

The page for the Ribbon coil says the fork ships with 3 springs (light, med, heavy) and that X-light and X-heavy are also available aftermarket.

Get a 180 talas. Seriously.

If you come up to northstar anytime soon, I'll let you ride mine.
Thanks for the offer, I really want a coil 180 though. My Float is pretty damn good, but a coil 180 would be MOAR better. Plus, now that Push has that air ramp contraption that solves my issues with shorter travel coil forks my goal is to go completely coil again.

........listen to what I'm telling you.........

You REALLY should ride a 180 talas if you want a coil 180 fox fork. ;)

If I could put one of those cartridges in my 40 I would.
You've implied this before ... so what do you think is going on in there vs the Float? The damper is the same, so what's the magic in the air spring??

There's no pinner rod binding up in a bottom cap at the bottom of the stanchion when the fork flexes.

I now have two talas cartridges, one i replaced a float spring with. They're so much better. A buddy hopped on my RFX last year with the 180mm one and "damn I miss coil forks". I said 'look down'

There's a spring in there too :D

The thing I like most about coil forks is the increased mid-stroke resistance without sacrificing small bump compliance. The reduced friction is a bonus. Talas won't solve that unfortunately, although some of the multi positive chamber forks might; although at that point I'd rather have the set and forget nature of a coil.

Annnnndddddd its every bit as amazing as i thought it would be. Incredibly smooth, ramps up nicely (running 30lbs in the bottom out chamber), far superior mid stroke and support, no diving and doesnt seem to stick in its travel like the air cartridge did. i rate it 10/10

Does anyone make a coil kit for the Yari/lyric?
Most say the pike kits won't fit since the sanction tube is thicker.

Curious how long it will take until Fox gives rise to the Vanilla, again.
Most suspension companies are probably waiting till we all forget that air forks somehow used to cost more than coil. Otherwise when they release coil forks that cost the same (or more) than their existing air offerings we'll be asking why.
