Hee hee...saw this on another site (Yes, there are other internet sites out there...forgive me, for I have wandered...)

"Gun humpers cradling their precious weapons at night, under the covers, promising them that they will be protected come hell or high water, that they they will not let the bad men take them away, while their useless phallus lays dormant just a few inches down.

Get over it. If your precious self image is so firmly attached to an inanimate object like a gun or a hot rod car, then you are the problem. Take up a productive hobby, one that if abused, is not capable of the mass murder f innocents. You can crow about the Left taking away your freedoms, and how you are so patriotic and brave, yet you have enslaved yourself by virtue of your gun worshiping.

Take up needlepoint...flower arranging, something innocuous and peaceful Try to be a productive member of society already. Not just a blathering nincompoop who has to carry a gun to prove his (Or her...) worthiness."

Not defending their existence, but only the sale of the conversion kit is 'legal'. The act of installing/possessing a modified firearm is a felony.

I believe that is a "look the other way" law.

Who would have ever guessed a suicidal mass murderer would stoop so low as to break such a law.

Idiot logic. You can have the kit, but you cannot install it or modify your weapon to use it. "I just got this for when the government comes to take away my Baby Jeebus given rights..."

Roughly akin to being able to buy a water pipe, but nothing (decent) to smoke in it...

There are all kinds of fun idiosyncrasies in the law like that. You can purchase 80% complete uppers and lowers for AR-15s that are not traced as firearms. Granted, you do have to machine them yourself but that can be done with a drill press in your garage. They offer 80% handgun frames as well, same deal. No serial number, no background check, no record (other than the company’s which so far as I know have refused to turn them over to the ATF).

I'd have no problem giving up mine. Used to target shoot during the winters when I lived in Ohio. There was a range just down the street. Never felt the need to own one to protect myself, fight the government or enhance my penis. Not that a .22 target pistol is good for any of those.

Confirmed that the shooter used legal modifications to make an automatic rifle.

looks like he was using a bump fire stock to achieve the high fire rate you hear in the videos. Interesting. 100% legal.

One of the rifles is equipped with a “bump fire” stock that appears to be made by Slide Fire

I am guessing good Americans all around the country are sucking up every SideFire stock they can find.

You know, out of respect for the victims while we show respect and don't talk about gun control.

Of course!

My impression of any bump fire technique is that you have 0 accuracy and it's only good for being that cool guy who unloads his mags fastest.

FWIW "Constructive possession" is illegal in Ca, and I thought it was in the rest of the nation as well for most things, and the ATF definitely considers CP the same as possession of the finished machine gun when it comes to anything full auto, makes it quite a bit more sane. So it's only legal to own a lightning link or similar if you don't also own a gun to stick it in. Still a weird law. I know the ATF was going after people for buying adapters that allowed you to attach an oil filter to the front of your gun under the guise of filtering chemicals used to clean said firearm, but if you fired your gun through the oil filter is functioned as a pretty good suppressor. I don't know exactly what happened with that. Lots of dooms day derp going on any time you look it up.

So to retain your individual freedum to have enough weaponry to invade North Korea, we need to have airport levels of security at every public building...

Not quite sure where the freedom part comes into that. It's bad enough at airports let alone if it's everywhere...

"It's not the guns, it's more the people who own the guns," says Bob, who thinks there should be better checks on the mental health of buyers.
And lets cut down on the "mental health" side of the discussion. I'm not buying this any longer. It's not the mental state of someone that has them commit something like this. I'd agree more that it's someone who's just a little bit more pissed off at the world than you are or the next guy and he's using the easiest most reliable means necessary to get his point across. That's it. Plain and simple. What do we do about it???

When Jesus wrote the constitution he said you had the right to amass an arsenal of guns. He didn't say you had the right to not get murdered. He didn't say you could bring shampoo on an airplane or not get your balls fondled by a high school dropout when you try to enter a public space.

Via JBP on the Trump/brain dead chorus of what about the Chicago/inner city dog whistle:

https://www.theroot.com/why-we-never-talk-about-black-on-black-crime-an-answer-1819092337

It is a fact that most murders are committed by whites, according to the most recent FBI stats available. It is a fact (at least for 2016 and 2015) that a black man was less likely to commit a violent crime of any kind than a police officer was to kill an unarmed person
Also gun rights advocates don't realize bringing up Chicago disproves their own argument. Chicago banned hand guns in 1982. Beginning in 1983 and continuing for 28 years, the murder rate trended consistently down, falling every year except a temporary spike from 90-94. In 2010 the Supreme Court overturned Chicago's ban. Once again cheap hand guns were easy to come by. Guess what happened? The murder rate skyrocketed. And as to comparing large states with large urban areas to empty rural states, that conflates raw numbers with rates per unit of population - no statistical literacy...

This of course is the white baby Jesus that was born wrapped in a confederate flag in Texas at the Alamo on the 4th of July holding an AR-15.

But...White people are 70 something percent of the population, where as Asians are less than 5%, on a per capita basis, we're finally not that worst!

Latinos are kicking our asses though...
Actually whites were around 61% from this 2016 data (72% in 2010 census) and trending down so at 56% it's probably about equal. Also demographers typically have significant under counting problems with minorities due to language and immigration status.

Yet more proof that gun companies (and by extension the NRA) profit greatly from publicized gun violence.

I guess if you're dumb enough to think you're going to have a successful armed standoff with the US government, you'd be by extension also too fucking stupid to understand that connection.

Exactly. When Obama got elected the NRA powered rumor mill spit out a warning that the new prez was going to take away their ammo. A gun nut/biker trash neighbor bitched about gun stores running out of ammo. Never occurs to him that the NRA is a marketing mega-force.

Of the surviving victims, how many will be financially ruined by their hospital bills?
