Nothing really that crazy, I found a guy in Germany with one who wanted an old fork I had laying around. Worked out a trade/cash deal...As for the rebuild some cool Italian dude on facebook saw I had one and offered to send me some detailed instructions. Once I got those it wasn't too bad, it's a fairly simple fork internally, just like the old z1's.
I actually have an old monster on the wall (i'm not a crazy collector, just have a couple things), but I had seen many of those back in the mid 2000's, wanted this or a Dorado SC to complete the package.
You have it right on, it's crazy the money people are asking for some of these forks now...Was just telling a friend it's getting like vintage cars. I don't have many plans for this other than to cruise it around, I have current bikes for real riding. I really loved the cool niche' products from back in the day when I was in college (couldn't afford any of this stuff).
God i owned every one of those except for the RAC and shiver sc (noodle) and wish i never sold any of them
Yeah, isn't it crazy how much some of these things are going for? I wish I still had every one of them on my wall.

Totally man, I got some flack for putting that RAC on mine above. To each his own!
This was the original color I wanted. I waited for a while... then chose black... which was also then not available. Eneded up w/ silver. The green still looks great to my eyes.
D521's and an RD-M950, quite the legacy.
D321 were wider but buttery soft and disc only. Quite some people here chose 521 over the 3's even for DH usage coz they were allegedly stiffer and less prone to bent flanks.
