whatcha think?

I watched the DH from Innsbruck this morning.
That Vali Holl whippersnapper would have placed 2nd in the limited field of elite women.

Speaking of Innsbruck, did you see Dakotah shoulder check that tree? Damn! He's out for a while I'd imagine.

That was a pretty solid hit. Looked like he was being pretty careful with the left arm afterwards and medical was trying to get his jersey off before the feed cut back to racing. Hopefully nothing too serious.

One could argue that the two times Gwin didn't win were a mechanical, a Flat tire, and riding a demo in 2013 was the only time Gwin didn't win in VDS.
I would put my money of Gwin but it could be interesting? Pierron is riding out of his head and was 2nd to Gwin at VDS last year. His big wheeled Commencal high pivot is tailor made for a course like VDS

So Brosnan with a shift-into-chainless setup (vital pit bits)?

Waiting for UCI intervention...

A lot simpler than that freehub disconnecting thingy they played with a couple of seasons ago...

Anyone try the Specialized/Santa Cruz style lumpy chainstay protection? Curious if it's worth the effort and overall ugliness.
Ribbed for her pleasure :drag:... Seriously, why bother creating those smooth carbon structures, only to get them all lumpy with mastic tape condoms?

I'm sure they've tested it, but won't the chain go bouncing around with no teeth to hold it there?

Also Vital has advertisements on the new Cura4 brake. When can we buy those???

I think that is the first time that Val di sole gets ridden in wet conditions, right?
Should be interesting, although Saturday should be good weatherwise.

Probably not. especially running a clutch mech.
My rear mech's (OG 9spd XO) parallelogram spring snapped at the top of a run in Morzine last week leaving the chain running on the spacers (I run a 5 speed cassette centrally spaced on the freehub). The chain stayed on the spacer at the freehub and the chainring on the front. I don't even run a chain device. No issue at all except for not being able to put a pedal stroke in.

I do think shifting the chain back onto the sprocket might be a bit weird though depending on where on the track you choose do it. I'd have thought it'd be easier done while clipped in than on flats though. A Guy like Brosnan will know exactly where and when he'll be doing it though.

much more dangerous I would say...you need to spin the pedal before the chain engage the cassette, with the prototype thing you know exactly when it's engaged.

Ideally chain should only be engaged when the crank spin forward, and disengage the rest of the time automatically, probably easier to do on gearbox bike.
