A buddy of mine has a Ribbon. It's a really nice fork. I have a Yari with an Avy Cart and Push Coil kit. We both like my set up better. But they are close. Total price is close as well. The Ribbon is the easy button. VS I went through 3 vendors to get what I wanted.

Back when Enduro was called Freeride. I always thought Enduro was the type of race. Similar to XC but only DH portions counted. And the bike tree went DH, Free Ride, AM, Trail, XC, CX/Gravel, Road.Do you guys remember a thread I started in like 2004 about running a 6" dual crown on a trail bike? I ran a Sherman slider on my trail bike for 6 years with no creaks
My trail bike came with an '18 36 Grip which uses the same damper and air spring. I rode it for a week until I got around to swapping parts over from my old frame and was very impressed given it's MSRP.
I will neither confirm nor deny.

My guess is that less internal friction and the difference in spring rate are the main factors for the difference you are feeling
I have a lot of time on many MRP forks, and as far as your question goes, I think what you are feeling is the difference in dampers between the Stage and Ribbon. The Stage originally had a port orifice rebound damper, whereas they added a high speed rebound valve for the Ribbon, which made it recover faster from hits.
That is, unless you had the Stage damper updated to the Ribbon version. Even if you had updated the Stage damper, I’ve ridden air and coil Ribbons quite a bit and don’t feel a big difference in sliding friction. FWIW.
