Started the day out firing two staff members I had inherited in my new job so I am for a short time down to just me in the department so I am officially no longer a middle manager :-) Never fun to process terminations but they got a really good severance package so I am sure they will find a good place and have plenty of time to do so.

On a happier note I am staying with my dad as this office is close to his house so I get some family time out of it.

Another isht day at work ahead. Then another bad week and then finally some rest from work. I need to get far far away from people.

Morning Monkeys.

The smoke situation is getting old. Gateway Green has caught fire twice now and the air quality is more like LA than Portland.

70's this weekend and possible rain. It would be welcome right about now.

Can I go home now?

Either the air quality or allergies are fucking me up big time. Moar rain, pls.
I've had throat issues for weeks and can't work out if it's the smoke or I caught Mexican plane cooties.

Found out a couple days ago that the final edit of the 30-minute documentary of our 2017 Baja 1000 run is done, and is being released on Roadshow next Wednesday. I haven’t seen the final, but I saw an early version comprised of raw clips in the order they were thinking made sense... excited to see the final version. For anyone local, I think we’re having a viewing party at Mountain Toad Brewing next Wednesday evening. w00t!

Question for the class: when I post a thread with the link to the documentary on Teh Monkey, where should it go? The Lounge, or Ride Reports, or the Creative Pursuits forum, or... ?

Good morning. Had some good sashimi last night. Riding after what's sure to be a busy work day.

Whatcha riding?

Ditto to both of you on something in the air wreaking havoc on respiratory system. I blame pollen + smoke, an evil combination.

I should clarify that I'd ridden in Stanley a few times already, this time we rode some different stuff and everything was new to me in salmon and Sula

So who's in for a back packing trip next summer?

https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7006965/lost-creek-wilderness-loop

One of the guys I work with said it's a really good weekend trip for out of shape/old guys.
This loop is generally too hot during the summer. Would be a good late spring/early fall route, though. Be advised - last time we backpacked in there there were SHITLOADS of yellowjacket ground-nests. That was late summer, IIRC. Fortunately, they were pretty docile for yellowjackets...

One of the guys I work with told me spring because of water concerns. I'll start checking my calendar, but May would be my guess.
