Up since 230, giving up on moar sleep tonight.
I guess I'll catch a nap later.

I can't sleep either.
:stupid: :bonk:x3

couldn't get to sleep until about 12:30 am. Up at 4:30, till about 5:30 I reckon. Soy muy cansado.

I think part of the reason is that I've had this really weird thing for the past week or so where I'm keenly, viscerally aware of how my tongue is resting on my teeth. I'm totally fixated on it, and can't think of anything else. it's fucking weird and annoying.

I'm also trying to figure out how to get my bike to Ecuador in November. It's a three-flight trip, so luggage will change planes twice: once in Washington, once in Panama. The way I see it, I have three options:

1. I can use my EVOC bike case. Pros: simple, secure, bike arrives (or doesn't) all in one piece. Cons: will be expensive, as the trip is on two separate airlines, so I'd be paying the bike fee twice per direction. This could add up to $400 per direction. I will need to check. Also, the travel agent told me the flight from Ottawa to DC is on a small plane that couldn't fit a bike. Not sure I trust his opinion. Still, this option will be ridiculously expensive. Could be cheaper to rent on site. If good bikes are available there.

2. I can use a hockey goalie bag with wheels. A buddy does this. You can dissassemble the bike (wheels, fork, separate front and rear triangles) and stack them all up in one of these. Pros: bike is all together in one bag. Cons: still oversized luggage, though smaller than the bike case. Bike is not as well protected.

3. I can dissassemble my bike and fit it into a large suitcase, but won't be able to fit the wheels. I'd have to buy a wheel bag and check them separately. Pros: cheaper, and will avoid oversize and overweight charges. Cons: bike is separated, which doubles the chances of part of it going missing.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

In hell. Welcome!
Last two hellish days in the office before 11 days away from work. Not sure if I will want to come back though. New boiler project is progressing nicely, dude is a true pro and I can highly recommend him if anyone needs a knowledgeable steam heat professional in the NE.

Hey, today is garbage day!

Perhaps it was the stupid humidity, but my legs and body felt completely dead during last nights ride. And I was riding like an idiot, sloppy and not really able to hold any good lines; granted the rain and wet roots didn't help with that. So tonight I am planning on being a lazy fatass and doing absolutely nothing.

Woo almost the long weekend.

This is part of why it is so hard to find a job (in my case) around the Seattle area! It’s 7 miles to Bellevue, but takes over an hour each way. Downtown Seattle? Fugetaboutit
Speaking of commutes, a company I used to work for is buying a building in Seattle. I texted the old boss and he said, “Want a job?!” Subbing has been fun but is lacking substance. I may just return to the twice daily battle of the commuters!

Good Morning!

I'm in the office doing math.......let me repeat that just in case you guys didn't grasp the full brunt of that awful statement: I'm in the office doing math.....

Everything in the sign industry is measured in inches, feet, points(for font) and "...about that big" descriptions. So, naturally the biggest name in the game has to introduce this new product line that for some reason, is only measured in yds. and only available in 48" widths. Thanks a bunch for that, suits....y'all know sign people are right-brained, and incapable of math, right?

I need a beer and we're not even anywhere NEAR beer-thirty. ***sigh***

RapidRide? Light rail? When I was in West Seattle commuting to UW and Harborview the only thing that kept me sane was the West Seattle Water Taxi.

@Westy two questions, #1 applies to anyone who has rode in the area mentioned below...maybe @Toshi has been there prior to the move?:

1: Have you rode Sun Mountain area in Winthrop? We are headed there this weekend. My boys each get a new bike. I have a broken derailleur.... guess they'll probably need the handicap since I'm the only one who's been riding all summer!! :weee:

2: Buffalo wants to know if you are Westy because you have a Westy (I know you have a blue VW, but, like, is a a Cabrio?), or due to your geographical location. If it is the former, pics please

I live pretty close to Maple Valley, so to get to Seattle or Bellevue it takes several transfers. Buffalo calculated the ride to Bellevue at about 3 hours!!!! With no inclination towards stretching the light rail along 405 we are royally fuuuuuucked, like pregnant with twins the day after the royal wedding fuuuuuuuucked.

That blows. Seattle is 40 years behind the times with its mass-transit architecture compared to Portland. (Denver's no peach, either, but I live close enough that I can bike commute along a greenway, sans cars. Or drive my car like a regular schmoe.)

Hello all. I hope the Volvo starts up after its month off from service!
I didn't drive the Subaru for a few weeks last winter, it generated a warning text about maintaining satellite service disconnecting but, by the time I read it, it was too late - the car was completely dead and required a jump. The day after I jumped it the dealer called and said they needed to review codes the car sent on start up. They replaced the battery and told me to drive it more...

It started right up. I did drive it once in the middle of the month out of service, 1 mile to the local carwash and 1 mile back, just to keep it somewhat charged. The remote access service did go into sleep mode due to the inactivity, so I couldn't check on the garage's temperature and the like real-time.
