Yesterday was very nice. Local radio station put on a nice concert with a cool collection of artists. I have been a fan of Cake since the early 90's but have never thought to see them live. Damn have I been missing out. Not only did they sound incredible, but his audience interaction was top notch. Very entertaining, a good time was had by all.

Robert Delong is also very cool live. I have enjoyed his radio play, but to watch him do it in real time is actually pretty bad ass.

Last nights sleep was the worst. Left leg and arm are on fire; I'm guessing due to all the missing skin. Knee is pretty swollen too, debating whether I should get it checked out or not. One of my toes also seems to have taken a hit, it is completely purple.

But first, fuckin' coffee.

I'm back from the lake. Had a great time, but didnt do much kayaking since weather predictions were wrong and it was hot as hell. But did get some swimming in, a thunder storm blew through which felt nice. Had a snake come through camp, disappeared before I could get a pic. Wolf spider invaded a bag a stuff we had while we were packing to leave.

This has been in my possession for almost 14 years. A friend had it signed at a concert at the Crystal Ballroom for me. While I don't particularly care for the album itself, this poster is one of my most prized possessions.

Hello all. I scratched up my right wrist by the skin fold at the wrist/palm junction last night... installing a car seat. Such is my life.

Anyway, this forced me to wear my watch on the opposite wrist today. This feels super weird.

While not a fan of the Crystal, I would go to see them. I will be making an effort next time around.

It was a short set, like 90ish minutes. I would like a full set next time. I enjoyed the fact they didn't have a set list and just played what they were feeling like at the time.

Have your wife hitch back up to your car from Poncha. Easy.

USFS == e-bikes counted as motorcycles, so no bueno. This means I'll have to pedal up Beaver Creek later this month. Do not like.
Pro-tip: Monarch Crest is moto-friendly. As are a couple of the mo' bettah descents off of it (Agate and Green's). Pretty sure Silver & Rainbow (The full Crest ride) are also moto-friendly.

Father maybe has MS, maybe doesn't because neurological diseases are easy to diagnose. Also he borrowed his bike to a friend and he sent the bike through a shop and apparently someone else picked it up, noone knows, also he had sepsis when he was in NY but despite being insured the hospital wants to screw him over by adding charges for shit they didn't do. Also he may or may not be insured in Poland. Also I hope he recovers fast because if he doesn't finish one project at his job there will be no job soon which is a great thing if you're 57 and you have an undiagnosed neurological disease.

This was not a fun day, especially after getting 4h of sleep (and I'm someone who needs 9 not 7).

Well at least this really motivated me to take better care of myself since I see some of the stupid shit my father does in myself.

I just spent 4 hours on the phone trying to retain business and prevent a formal complaint (those are bad) - not against me - and succeed halfway. Business still held, but complaint filed. I'm fucking exhausted. Why are people such dicks that they don't take the extra 2 min to listen to a problem then solve it? Now we have a complaint to a major client to deal with.

Baja report

The plot:
10 dudes go to Baja to party and surf for an epic bachelor party weekend.

The Good:
We were in a tiny out of the way town in a chill pad on the beach. The surf was pretty solid and there were 0 other surfers on the water and almost no one on the beach at all. I swallowed a mouthful of ocean water and didn't get sick, so it's not diseased like the TJ water. Baja is definitely a good option if you're looking for a budget beach vacation.

The Bad:
You can't drink the water. Most of these small communities are on septic so you can't flush your TP. The food is not particularly good, but at least it's cheap. Lots of flies. Every so often there's a faint but unmistakable smell of shit.

The Ugly:
Fucking A is Mexico sketchy.
  • We got pulled over within a quarter mile of crossing the boarder and shaken down for $150 by the police (welcome to Mexico bitches :brows:).
  • Random dude in a red leather jacket tried to fight me in the bars. Dude blindsided me with a two handed push then his girl held him back so he could feel tough without having to actually throw down.
  • Some guy rolled up to me and started talking to me about BUDS cause he thought I was a SEAL, then tried to lure me away from our crew.
  • The sound system at the strip club blew up or something so we busted out the wireless speakers and literally DJ-ed and ran the club for the next 3 or so hours till 5AM. Some of the crew was even on stage dancing :busted: :monkeydance:
  • Then when we were driving around TJ trying to find the SENTRI boarder crossing (expedited crossing for pre-cleared vehicles) two different taxi drivers tried to get us to follow them by yelling at us in traffic. One of them even started to try to box us in with his car till we dipped out.
  • Drug dog was super interested in my buddy who had picked up a bunch of Xanax at the Mexican pharmacy on the way out of town but didn't end up alerting

Pretty sure we were one wrong move away from some bad shit happening.

TLDR:
Partied in Baja, was fun, surf was good, the Rosarito party scene is wild but shit is sketchy down there

I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies...

Spent two hours this morning screwing around with front tire on the Tracer - pinch flatted at Fort Rock this weekend, classic through the sidewall at bead, today trying to clean out all the sealant crud so tube doesn't get all gooped up. Tire's on and seated, holding air, so I guess the earth is rotating in the correct direction...

Today is one of those days where its very difficult not to answer all questions with a "yo mama so fat..." joke.
Let's hope I can keep it together.

In other news, ran 10 miles in the Sangres this weekend. Confident I can finish the half now. Need more time on the trail before the race though. luckily the trail for the race is not technical at all & only has 1.6k of vert.

That's a hairy appendage. It makes me a bit uncomfortable that I can't tell exactly which appendage it is
