Given the likelihood of power outages etc, requesting now the hurricane monkeys check in somehow with other monkeys so we know everyone is safe. A fair amount of us are fb friends, so that might be a good option. Aside from rm of course.
will try and monkey post on the mobile

Stay safe, monkeys.

From CNN. Holy shit.
By the time it leaves, it's expected to have unloaded 10 trillion gallons of rainfall in North Carolina, weather.us meteorologist Ryan Maue said. That's enough to fill more than 15 million Olympic-size swimming pools.

My folks moved to NC like 5 years ago. Just south of Wilmington, about 2 miles inland. At least they won't have to fill up their swimming pool. Looks like they will be staying with my brother for...oh...the next 6 months.

That comparison is funny to me.

Here's an unfathomably large number. To help you grasp it better, we will contextualize it with another unfathomably large number.

Uh, thanks guys. I know exactly what 15 million swimming pools looks like!

Hi everyone,

While surprised to see the storm take a little more southernly track, it doesn't change the amount of surge we'll get out of it....I'm completely expecting devastation when we return. Meanwhile...got cold tops, wine, shed and snacks. Let's hope the shed doesn't cause me to use up all those snacks. I'll check in as often as possible throughout the whole affair - for context, we're pretty much right in the center of the state, right now...just about 45min West of Lizar....errrr, BV.

Yep...it's a pretty nice day out there if it wasn't for the Eye of Sauron searching for the precious over our entire state.

We've all been tuning into the Frying Pan cam for awhile here in NC....it's always nice to see the size of the banana that's about to be rammed into your tailpipe.

UPDATE:

Quick screencap from a video posted by a local friend. See that car in the distance keeping people on the other side from driving across? My folks house is in between here and there - in all that water....and this is just the beginning.

Matched up with a girl on tinder who her and her family just evacuated inland today, "we live 30 mins from the coast and made a last minute decision to evacuate today"
