I spent two years of my life at the FADAL plant putting Fanuc controls on their machines.

Too bad they went under, the management team was inept. I once replied all to an email and called the CEO a moron not realizing he was on the distribution list. He didn't bother arguing the point.

At one point in time they had two big issues. They couldn't make machines as fast as they were selling them and they were losing money on each machine. They asked my company to reduce the price of our supplied parts. I recommended that they raise their prices. They looked at my like I had two heads and declared that they would lose sales if they did that.

Avoid the large FADAL machines. The tables sag at the ends of the X axis stroke. Not only messes up your accuracy but it wears out the ways ans screws super fast.

Theoretically this is one of the best machines they made. 4020 casting and hardware but shorter table so it’s more rigid. Box ways, 10k rpm. Can’t wait to put it to work. Finished electrical and compressed air plumbing today and got it leveled. Should be running parts this week.

Yeah, the 3012 and 3016 are solid. It was the 6030's that had issues.

I used to wrench on these things. God they were sexy piles of iron.

Ooooh. I love Makinos. Always look like awesome machines. I’m glad this fit in my garage. Options are limited...

At the risk of stating the obvious, that's not an eagle.

I now have mill envy, thought I was pretty cool because I have a tap-o-matic for my Rong-Fu, this, I believe, is a superior set-up.
The ladies love a good rigid tapping setup.

It’s a cnc mill. It’s what all your bike parts are made on, among a million other things. It cuts metal and is controlled by a computer.
