Has anyone any knowledge concerning this? I got a new fork and it is a solid axle fork.
jd ... do you mean a thru-axle, like a 15mm or 20mm axle? Is your hub an ISO disc hub or older non-disc hub?
If the hub is a large diameter (LD) you can switch to 20mm or 15mm. If the hub is small diameter (SD) you can only switch to 15mm. You can order pretty much any axle online.

Not true. See Walmart bikes with truly solid axles, threaded for axle nuts +/- a flat ground into them to fit into the stamped steel dropouts.
