So the wife is pretty full speed ahead on this. Will need to get some patio / landscaping done in addition to the tubs. Anything to look out for? Avoid?

Worked at a public pool for 6 years, swam competitively for 8. I'm immune. Also will likely go for saline vs chlorine.

Hmmm... not sure how water balance works in a saline spa, but I was going to suggest one of these for testing, because those strip things SUCK and as far as I can tell, are completely useless:

I always hated those shallow plastic hot tub / spas. I always preferred a deep round redwood hot tub that you could could right up to your chin without scrunching up in a plastic seat designed for dwarfs in two feet of water
It's salt water. Generally you just keep the water level right and occaioccasio add some salt.
Most folks can manage just fine with missing toes. Toes are overrated.
You apparently need a different pump system to deal with the salt (I'm guessing corrosive resistant materials) but nothing can grow in it. My aunts pool is salt and they never have algae or anything.

Inline UV filters are pretty cheap. If you can cut, measure, and glue schedule 40 stuff together. You can buy a Fiberglass shell and outfit it yourself. Most outfitted spas are cheaply made and are expensive to maintain. The more features you get the more it will cost to repair or upgrade. Everything being proprietary is mind Bottling....

I have too. It worked good, the only problem i found was having to plan for a hot tubing.
So my kids new school friends parents asked me and karla if we would like to come and sit in their new spa with them. Um no, gross. Unless its like the one Eric originally posted made of redwood and large. I dont really wanna stew in juices with other people.
