Reading through the luna cycles literature and they definitely say that in x-bike trim, the Sur Ron does have regen, start at about 5:10 for regen discussion;

I've recently drunk the kool-aid myself and picked up a second hand e-fatbike as a year round commuter / substitute second vehicle here in Whistler. Mine has the defunct Bion-X kit that has regen and it's a surprisingly useful feature.
Yeah, the early "X" controllers had regen but they nixxed it by the time my bike was made. I prefer it this way.

@Lelandjt - Does that thing feel small when going up steep stuff or when on the gas?
It has 3 footpeg holes and the rear axle is near the front of its adjustment slot. With the pegs in the rear hole the reach felt good but the "chainstay" was too short, about 16.75". I have them in the middle hole now and the reach is a little short. When a chain and sprocket arrive I'll move the wheel all the way back in the swingarm and put the pegs back in the rear position. That should give it a good reach and chainstay. I'll also soon be putting a 26x3" tire on front and a 19x3.5" tire in back that will make it feel "bigger". The stock fork was much too soft but a 2007 888 Air has fixed that and gives the front end good height and support. I rode my buddy's with the stock fork yesterday and it was so low and steep feeling.

I have no argument in the e-bike drama, but why do so many of the pro-riding-ebike-ads have to promote the stupid as fuck behavior of going up trails meant to be flying down?

These are riders paid to do whatever the lizards want them to do. Including riding e-bikes and 29'ers.

They have to go up DH courses to show you just how AWESOME it is bro!

If you're a DH rider and are given an E-Sommet for free and decide not to ride it you're a fucking retard.
Mind you, same could be said of choosing to practice manuals indoors while stationary over going outdoors.

Again. If you'd rather push a DH bike back to the top.
I see a patern developing here.

Brayton's about as un-lizard controlled as they come.

Was the video "given to him for free". Nope. He was paid by the lizards to make the video. Therefore, controlled by the lizards. Money, money, money, money... Money!

It's his instagram you dick. Filmed on a phone by the looks of it. 15yr old kids make better instagram videos than that on their phones . BECAUSE it's free!
When I read your post I don't get offended. I know God punched you in the head too many times for not wearing a helmet. :banghead:

That's still no excuse. I'm not interested in taking care about lunatics going up steep trails built to have fun on going down. This really sucks. I, again, had such an encounter last week and was barely able to avoid a crash, local Spesh elite shop owner, who is only good at climbing.
Why does AB have to show that shit in that vid? He is smoking it going downwards. Why not picture him flying up a fireroad doing a 2 km wheelie? That's were I would see some benefit in ebikes.

It's all about being cool and giving a nice image doing extreme stuff. Bike companies are trying to sell E-bikes to everyone, even the people that don't need them, that's why they do those stupid videos. Only a tiny percentage of the ads and videos are targeted to the people that really need an E-bike, even when it's a huge new market waiting to be exploited.

Can you imagine a video about overweight people getting out of the couch and getting fitter with the help of an E-bike, just riding fire roads and easy trails until they get better and gain some experience??? Nope, they are not going to do it but that's the best use of an E-bike. It is by far the best bike for a beginner (miles and miles and miles ahead of anything else), but beginners are not cool.

It's not a well known public trail and it's a sction of trail Brayton knows no one else is going to be coming down. The UK is full of spots like this where only a handfull of folk will know where the rad rider built stuff is.
What you're describing is an arsehole on a bike. it has very little to do with his bike having a motor.

Fuck you're clueless. very few riders on this forum need a DH bike for the riding they do and the level/speed they ride at.
The best use of an emtb with great DH/enduro geometry and 170mm travel certainly isn't as a bike for beginners or fat/old/weak/unfit people to ride fireroads and easy trails.

Just read an interview on Racer X with a top US MX Racer

Racer X - I ride a Levo bike. I’m an e-bike guy. I’ve been getting a lot of shit on social media when I post one. But you’re gnarly. Your dad’s gnarly. And you’re fine with an e-bike, correct?

MX Racer - Yeah. We rip them. We love riding those things. The haters are the ones that haven’t ridden them yet. Those are the haters.

Racer X - So I can tell all those guys they’re fine?

MX Racer - They haven’t ridden one. As soon as you ride one, you’ll change your mind, 100 percent.

Racer X - You’re the gnarliest guy I know, so if you’d be the guy to shit on e-bikes, someone would think.

MX Racer - Just go ride one.

Wanna guess the racer?

Ps. Signs? how quaint.

moto guy into motors on bikes, film at 11
Ran into a guy on an ebike with a throttle at the trails yesterday. He identified as a moto guy who needed to stay in shape while the forest is covered in snow. Kept saying how since he was older (probably 40) that he needed some assistance. Whats with people getting a little out of shape and acting like they cant pedal up hill.
