"People are complaining that DH is out of touch with the regular rider on the street. That DH bikes are so niche and specific that most people can't justify owning one unless they live near a bike park, or have access to shuttlable WC courses. Whats the best way to address this situation? Also, we want to make sure no Australians or South Africans have a snowballs chance in hell of winning."

"Snowballs? You've given me an idea. Make a series that requires access to a ski resort that allows morons on bikes to uplift"

Reminds of Andrew Shandro's segment in Seasons after he's being interviewed for winning the X-Games snow mountain bike race back in the day: "...at the time we thought this was kinda cool, but in reality it's not really..hahah.. like we're going to go ride on the snow..."

Well, it's either that or E-bikes.

Riding my fatbike downhill at the ski resort is one of the funnest things I've done, it's a blast. I'd do it all the freaking time if they'd let me.

It seems like the DH bikes are usually about as fast as the fatbikes during our winter DH races, no one is making a "DH" fatbike persay, but the DH bikes just look like a bitch to control in the snow, vs. fatbike on packed snow is magic.

Lol no one was asking for a snow downhill series.

Seems like they are trying to get into the silly, made-for-TV Redbull events game.

If the conditions are good and they have a decent track builder, snow DH is a lot of fun! A few years back there already was a snow DH series around the Men's Super-G FIS Worldcup races, around 10 riders on the icy as hell tracks. CG was pretty good at it if I'm not mistaken. The series was called Siemens Snow King I think.

It is probably for the best that your country does not have a place to practice on, and probably will not be sending someone to compete in that "spectacle"

I have snow AND EDIT: The tallest mountain outside Asia, but it's summer here when these UCI assholes want to run their "winter series".

It amazes me how narrow-minded and chauvinist these so-called "international" regulation boards are.

Hmm...first person to bike down Denali?
This homie pedaled down the Aconcagua in the 90's, with a fully rigid cromoly Specialized Rockhopper. I have done a couple of his paid bike trips, and the best part of them were the post-meal chats. The guy can't help but tell you stories of when he completed two round trips around the planet, alone on his bike. An amazing character for sure.

for when your reverb is too reliable.

i'd consider something like this when they can make an electric drop with spring return. Being able to drop the post at a moment's notice is the "next big thing", aside from making one that doesn't wobble or sag.

the amount of power it would take to achieve that AND fit on a bike would require a nuclear reactor. or you'd be charging it like every other ride with a lithium battery.
