yeah, I dunno about that WWC 'review'....I'm a huge cynic about a lot of marketing frankly, but that basically seemed like a bunch of fanboys regurgitating manufacturer talking points and trying to sell something they sell. seemed like kool-aid gulping to me personally.

Having a squishier back-end than front-end would bug the fvck out of me. That and one my favorite things to do on a bike is hit natural drops, so the front-wheel slap would be an issue.
Pre-loading, pumping/boosting has to be weird AF too I guess.
S'pose you'd get used to it pretty quickly if you only rode one bike but there's no way I'd want one of these forks.

A fork that is really good at smashing directly into rocks at speed, something nobody does. A fork that is completely out of balance with the way current rear mountain bike suspension works. Designed by a guy who built his career designing mountain bike suspension.

How did we get here again?

I'm going to be shocked if the pinkbike review doesn't say something like "it was great, I felt faster everywhere, this thing is amazing, but it really hurt my hands, didn't turn as well, and didn't absorb bumps really well. 11/10"

I was doing semi-ok until they started talking about the same bar height by stacking spacers. :banghead:
Just Wow - So wrong on so many levels.
Spacers need to be at the lower crown otherwise lots of fun geometry changes take place. Think about it, shorter fork =
Steeper HA, steeper STA, lower BB, not to mention reach and stack, WB and probably something else not apparently obvious to me at the moment.

They are seriously telling us to forget about all that and just add some stem spacers. :rofl:

After hearing that I can just imagine the bike designers looking at each other with a WTF look of horror on their faces.

Pretty good.... In some situations... On a few bikes... But it's also heavy... :busted:

That's just what DW told them and they TRUST him. It's all in the marketing literature.

@mykel and @dan-o are both 100% correct to give this whole axle-to-crown/fork length suddenly doesn't matter/one size fits many bikes thing the side eye. I am also on this team, there are bikes that they claim this fits that are going to feel weird as hell with a fork this short on them even if you correct the bar height with spacers.

It looks like someone has 50/50'ed a few landings with that fork. Maybe it wasn't designed for jumping?
didn't you watch the review? it's designed for underforking, low stacking, some super epic pushing against wall- and no-handed curb smashing-action, running straight into small rocks on the trail, and feeling awkward as fuck when cornering. all yours for slightly north of tree fiddy.

To be fair there are a few crown race spacer options available.

It sounds like a plush 130mm fork, which means not a lot of that travel is going to be available for big hits. Basic physics says that if you consume a bunch of that travel to be supple, there ain't going to be much left over to absorb large amounts of energy. perfect for the dentist who wants a long travel fork for that first bit of plush travel but likely to be a compromise for anyone who actually needs the full travel of a fork.

That kinda goes towards one of my main criticisms with the dw bikes: A big hooplah was made about how they can and do use a lighter compression tune because they don’t need heavy compression to pedal well or fight the pedaling-induced chassis movement. That’s all well and good, but I need heavier compression damping for chassis stability for a myriad of reasons besides pedaling, so IMO these light tunes blew though travel and were ill suited to aggressive riding, requiring somewhat of a re-tune or re-shock to really get the most out of the bike. Linear air-shock mid stroke made this worse.

Yeah but how are you going to curb smash with a proper tune?

I like the idea of a linkage fork with the main advantage being able to dial in some anti-dive under braking, but that is obviously more of a problem on long travel forks, which made me wonder why they didn't make a longer travel version? Those damn links are going to have to get longer to support more travel, that abomination would be significantly heavier and even goofier.

@shelteringsky I’m trying to get our shop two, one as a demo but the the cost of two is a lot even for us Ferrari driving LBS folk.

The Motion leverage fork is 170mm. But its major drawback is a one size fits all carbon leaf spring.
