It's when you eat something small and valuable, then make your BDSM slave sift through your bowel movements till they find it.

That sounds more like a Mountain Bike Action article. There are some old kooks out there somewhere who would probably be super stoked to read it.
barf!

Supplier on my main project is failing a bunch of quality tests. In a conference call their Director Of Aerospace told me it was because a gearbox had a gear ratio that was .6% off. I told him that was not how gears worked and was the most half-assed bullshit excuse I had ever heard. It would seem that he was rather upset with my response and after the call started to try to intimidate one of my junior guys on site to accept failing tests. Get to fly out to Detroit on Saturday so I can unleash holy hell. For twenty years I was the supplier getting my ass kicked by customers, this time I get to be on the the other side of that exchange. I hate Detroit, I hate work travel, but I am kind of looking forward to this.

Detroit has some of the best eating in the country right now, frankly. Stay somewhere downtown and go check out Marrow or Prime & Proper. Make the vendor pay for dinner and stay the eff away from that shithole Greek Town at all costs...

Spent way too much of my time there already. Know plenty of great places. Detroit is so much cheaper than Seattle. I have tried and can rarely hit my per diem.

Talked to the hiring director for the field position after I got home today. The position I applied for is effectively filled already due to specific client contractual requirements, which I do not fill and another does. There is another same position being listed in April and that is mine - full stop. The process will be very quick as it is funded already (vs Products).

We had a good laugh about my HR interview tomorrow, because it's basically a formality. I'm not even sure HR knows that the director and I have worked together for as long as we have. We discussed salary, incentive comp, client base, etc. It was a defacto final interview conversation.

Good way to wind the evening down.

Cool. Lots of great food & drink there, huh?

Marrow is brand new and has gotten some great reviews - for whatever that BS is worth. The food -based on the pre-opening tastes I was lucky enough to get- should be stellar. Great booze too.

When I was with Digital Equipment Corporation I spent a lot of time working with and visiting semiconductor suppliers, but our relationships tended to be cordial... Is aeronautics a different game?

It can be really ugly. My management is under the belief that the more you beat up on the supplier the better they do. I have been nothing but fair and transparent with them on the working level and have had a good relationship. But now that shit is getting real they are pulling a lot of bullshit with me and my engineering team. They seem to be confusing fair and reasonable with being pushovers, they are sadly mistaken. I don't care how unfair my leadership team has been, I will not let them bully my folks.

I dont really need an excuse to get naked & bang my drum in the woods, but the equinox is my favorite excuse!
My kids love doing the offering for ostara. Which is eggs, nuts, seeds, flowers, a candle. We eat lamb stew and build a tower we burn out of scrap lumber. Next year I’ll take your advice and break out the drums.
