The worst I've gotten so far has been 9.8mpg, but that was doing 80 down the freeway in Utah. Generally it's closer to 12-14mpg. Not great, but it's fine as it's not an everyday driver. The diesel would have gotten us better mileage, but people are really charging a premium for the 7.3 these days.
The difference between actually going somewhere, instead of around the block...

I haven't checked the milage in Frita yet, but I have heard 18 to 22 mpg with the 4BT. Not bad considering it's as aero as a brick.

Resin soaked window frames. I have to say, I love the sound deadener I got from Wish, but you'd better like where you stuck it, because it's a bitch to remove.

I got the drivers side window frame mounted and braced. Next weekend I can cut the hole an hope to have a side window and be ready to put up panels.

If I can get the passenger side framed out and insulated, I can start on my wiring.

Slow progress is slow.

I totally stole this, it is almost my exact setup minus the lithium. Once I get the passenger side framed, I will start on electrical.
Have you looked into a DC-DC charger? Something like the Sterling 50a units? You could then go with a smaller solar array and get a custom charge profile for your batteries.

I already have the 200A isolator, otherwise the DC to DC would be considered. The 40A is $200, same as I paid for my isolator.

With 400w and 400Ah of AGM, I hope to have enough juice. I got a 175A alternator because why not.

I am using a step up converter for the laptop so now ALL my loads are 12v currently. I will still have the inverter charger, but it seems like it will be more for shore power than inversion.

Will you be able to make Old Bay Chicken Wings with a Air Fryer with your system?

Yes, my inverter supports my air fryer and the wife's instant pot, not at the same time. I am trying to show her that I can store the pizza oven in an outside luggage bin and it totally fits on the counter for use.

The pizza oven is useful in cooking casseroles and most sausage meats also...

@Toshi brought up his Cruiser stereo, I have just finished the stereo plan for Frita.

Cab stereo is a 5 channel marine grade class D amp with 1 10" sub, 6.5" separates, 4" two ways.

Rather than pipe the big amp to the living space, I decided a compact class D 2 channel with a pair of marine coaxial 6.5" would draw a lot less power for music and movies and should be good. There are a few cool tube preamp class D's that might work.

This weekend the framing for the main space and windows installed. Then solar and electrical build out starts the following.

Best just install it for the living space, as you won’t be able to hear shit while tumbling along at freeway speeds. :D

This is why I am putting a 10" sub under my seat. TBO, it isn't all that loud at speed. Once I insulated the cab, it will be even quieter.

Don’t know where to put this, but I am thinking about one of these in a few years.
Think it could realistically tow a camper for more than 250 miles, and then charge with solar?
I guess I can dream...

https://jalopnik.com/the-rivian-electric-pickup-truck-is-full-of-fun-surpris-1834144227/amp
A reasonable solar array on top of a camper might be 1 kW. A reasonable output over a day from a 1 kW array might be 5 kWh.

5 kWh will take you about 12.5 miles in a Rivian, I'm guessing. So if you camp for 20 days then the answer is yes!

THAT is about the best excuse for camping for 20 days that I have ever heard. I was *sorta* kidding about the solar charge, but my dream for an electric truck is to be able to drive to Moab (400 or so miles), and camp in the desert for a few days. Maybe in ten years...

Electric drivetrains are very efficient already. Barring some radical aerodynamic and lightweight design like the stillborn Aptera that maybe would be an order of magnitude more efficient, conventional-ish electric vehicles will be of similar efficiency as those seen today.

Current PV panels are something like 30% efficiency, iirc. So there's maybe a factor of 2 achievable on that front. Maybe.

It's not happening unless you have a huge solar array, in other words.

What is happening is DC quick charging making this thought experiment irrelevant.
