Hate to tell you this, but every nation with an actual* elected government is a democratic socialist nation, the only issue is to what degree.... Civilization by definition is a form of socialism.

Ask anyone of them to define, “Socialism”. My experience has been that they cannot.
Aware and unlike most of the 'lets let government run everything' crowd in US I've lived under a Dem Socialist government for 5 years while in NL.
When the EU came to be I had to bail and return to the US, my ignorance couldn't take so much greatness.

If you live in the United States of America, then you live in a Democratic Socialist nation.

sorry, but the yellow vests in France are whining with their mouths full. they want to have their cake and eat it too. they are benefiting the most from socialism, but don't understand that someone has to pay for their benefits. and, they don't want to share those benefits with anyone. least of all, people coming from the nations that led France to be a colonial power. you know, the ones that contributed to the wealth that France relied upon to finance its socialist system. that wealth is fading away now. and to generate new wealth, you have to liberalize the economy. the yellow vests don't want a liberalized economy. they just want their benefits to not go away. that whole movement is just a bunch of whiny entitled people upset that their entitlements are going away.
wrt to moving away from the NL, without going through reams of documents, I'm going to bet that their determinants of health, social outcomes, longevity, and even wealth per capita is going to be much better there than in the US. so if I were to interpret what you are saying it's that you are happier to have shittier health care, education, job prospects, be poorer overall, because this way you don't have to share the money you make with anyone else. that's what your post tells me.
