My dad is home from 5 months in the hospital. He wanted to go home because he felt that he could not continue there , it was no way to exist and he did not want to die there. Hospice and comfort care is there. I don't know how long he has got but as he put it. He had a good 96 year run and he is ok with that. So am I, he deserves to go out his way

don't know whether to like or dislike, so I thought I'd comment. good luck. I hope you get to spend some good, quality time with him. I hope you get to cherish these moments and they are not too tough on you.

i hope some day my kids talk about me the way you talk about your dad. he sounds like an awesome dude.

Dad led by example. He taught me how to work hard. That people's skin color, religion, sexual orientation did not matter. What matters is how they treat you and you treat them. Respect. He encouraged me to explore to push boundaries, to become myself. You do that and your kids will look at you in the same way I look at him.

That's not an easy decision but IMO the right one. My great aunt passed away at home earlier this spring. She was 89 and the last of her generation on my mom's side, the farm family from Maine. She had in home hospice and it was 110% the right decision for her.

I also rode my bike, now enjoying a nice pale ale in the local hipster craft beer bar. It’s early afternoon so the hipsters are out in force yet so it’s not a bad place to chill out with a post ride beer
