Coffee, Oatmeal = colon blow. Excellent way to start the day.

wotking a 5am to 1pm shift then joining the sea of humanity on the highway for a 350 mile drive to go visit my dad for one of the last times. Kind of weird knowing that he is in Hospice and his time is close. But I am at peace with it.

Last day of school. Spent half of yesterday tracking down office supplies (including toner) only to find out we have an ordering system for field reps. Get to spend chunk of today with our admin figuring out how to use it then running around returning shit.

there are two shimano 11sp- road and mountain. Mountain fits on a regular freehub and spaces the big cog over the spokes. Road uses a new freehub that's slightly wider with "normal" spacing. To fit an 11sp mountain cassette on an 11sp shimano freehub, you need a small spacer. https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-11-Speed-1-85mm-Low-Spacer/dp/B00BO4X1SE I have used any old cassette spacer with success.

My e-moped arrived yesterday, hopefully I get the opportunity to test it out.

I used a Shimano 11-40 on my MTB Torch hub without spacer for a few years.

Dish or weird lacing pattern,

I used a Shimano 11-40 on my MTB Torch hub without spacer for a few years.

10 speed freehub
Shimano also used to produce special 10 speed only freehubs for a while, which are a few mm narrower than 8 and 9 speed freehubs. Only 10 speed cassettes can fit these freehubs. 10 speed cassettes are mounted onto these freehubs without any additional spacers. There are also 10 speed freehubs with aluminium body. Splines are taller, so that more material comes in contact with (narrower) 10 speed sprockets so they don’t cut into the freehub body under load. These hubs can not fit 7, 8, or 9 speed cassettes because of taller splines.

In practice, when a term “10 speed freehub” is used, it is usually meant the 8 and 9 speed compatible one, not the exotic 10 speed only Shimano stuff!

11 speed road freehub
Since MTB 11 speed cassettes can be mounted on the 8, 9 and 10 speed compatible freehub, this one is meant for road 11 speed cassettes only.

8 and 9 speed cassettes can be used with a 1.8 mm wide spacer.

10 speed cassette requires an additional 1 mm wide spacer (along with the 1.8 mm wide one) – just like when putting a 10 speed cassette on a 8-9-10 speed freehub.

7 speed cassette will require 4.5 mm spacer, in addition to a 1.8 mm wide one (used when mounting 8 and 9 speed cassettes).

Dish is fine. It is laced with sapim bladed spokes, which look a little larger in diameter near the bend? I didn't both to actually measure.
My trail wheels are 650b, Sapim bladed with Torch, no issues. I've got a Shimano freehub in parts if you need me to measure anything as right now the wheels have an XD freehub.

is that good or bad?
Good, she’s coming into my business.
It’s been nice having a financial safety net but her jobs have always limited flexibility.
This should free us up for more long weekends in Maine and take enough off my plate that ride time increases.

Yea that's the next thing I'm gonna check. I also have a spare rear wheel I'm gonna fit the cassette on to see if it works there.

Derp. Just had one of those moments where someone called up with a problem, which at first though/glance was a big major problem. Starting scrambling and trouble shooting........only to find out that it was the most basic of things wrong. Ya know, kind of like wondering why something won't turn on, only to discover the damned thing isn't plugged into power.

This is what you get for trying to work before ingesting coffee.

@jonKranked have you.......tried it now? Maybe take everything off and just reseat it all. What was on there before?

Morning Monkeys.

Here at 5 fucking 30, Jeebus. My boss called yesterday to say he spoke with my "lead". He explained to her that a project team status meeting was enough, we didn't need a test team stand up AND an end of day email status. 3 scheduled status updates daily while also asking at least 3 more times via email or IM for status is what we call micromanagement. So see how it goes from here.

FTS Friday is in full swing.

Sram 9 spd 11-34. No issues. I did take it off retry it, tried with a 1mm spacer. Just odd. I then realized it was almost 2am so said fuck it, had a slice of pie and went to bed. Pissed at myself because now instead of riding this afternoon I'm gonna be dicking around with this still. Regret my choice to swap the drivetrain.

32 replies already? Da fuck is going on up in here? 4000 yard swim done before work. 80 minutes of pool time. Today should be a nice, quiet, productive day at work because boss and consultants are out of the office.

In other news, all the college girls have returned for the summer. Being driven by my 16yo just became exponentially more dangerous.

Stick the old stuff back on and send it.

Grab beer post ride and do it again.

I suspect it is here to kill the snow....
Which according to the news is going to kill everyone in Lake City.

I've a bunch of friends coming in from the east coast to ride in the San Juans in early August, I sent them this to mess with them :D
