Hey guys! I'm looking for an open face helmet. I'm struggling with the fit tho... Most of the helmets I tried, are tight on the back/top part of my head.

Tried IXS, Uvex, Specialized Ambush with no luck.

Fox Flux MIPS felt great, but the visor was such a POS, that it is a complete no-no for me.

Any ideas what should I look for? Can't realy go to the shop an try stuff, have to order online, try it, send it back, pay for the shipping both ways and all that bs. My budget is tight right now...

Giro Sixer, Giro Chronicle, Giro Montaro and Bell 4forty caught my eye and I can get them quite cheap. Any ideas how they fit?

I take it this is not an option?

Seriously, if you can't try on any helmets, it's not even worth it to have a discussion. Buy a cheap helmet and go try on a bunch and get a nicer one the next time you are in a major city. I'd never buy a helmet unseen. Cheap and helmet shouldn't be used together, just from the fit principle. Much better to find something that fits rather than saves a few $$$.

I can try them, but I have to order them and pay for the shipping twice. If I will order 4-5 helmets to try them, then send them back, I will basicaly pay more for the shipping than for the helmet itself... I am in a major city, they just don't have any sizes that fit my head in stock. None of the helmets I mentioned are cheap, they are basically mid/to high end helmets I can just get them for half the MSRP.

The TLD A2 is the most comfortable and well-fitting helmet I've ever used. I'm fairly sure I could go otb with the buckle undone and it'd still stay on my head. I wish my D3 fit like it.

I have no idea what shape head I have, so this info is probably useless for other people. :clapping:

If the grinder doesn't work for you, then try Bell. I have a similar issue and the spot you show is similar to where the helmets rub me. I used Bell for over a decade and then switched to the Fox Flux. I have no complaints and have used 2 of them. I'd tell you to stop being a pansie and don't worry about the style points of a flimsy visor, but it sounds like you want to fit in with your Endurbros!

Bell Super DH has worked for my square head. Sucks not being able to try stuff on though.

IXS also do an extra wide version of the Trail RS Evo?
it's not a true XL, what it is is a super wide version.

Other than that I totally rate the Leatt DBX 4.0 and the Lazer revolution (looks of this not for everyone, but solid build and mega comfy).
The TLD's are my other fave but the TLD price tag is in joke territory in NZ for what you get.

I have an oval head and have always found Bell/Giro helmets to fit well. I have a TLD A1 which I barely fit in, a Specialized Prevail which I just smashed (but it fit great) and then just scored a Bell Zephyr to replace it which fits amazingly well. I bought a cheap THE helmet which fit well but was simply too big, and that confirmed the "try before you buy" thing for me.

Anyways, if you have an eggsy dome, try Giro or Bell. I didn't fit well in POC, newer Spec, or Leatt helmets. I also found that I need to avoid any s/m or L/XL brands. Being between sizes means too tight or too loose.

Looking at the Fox Flux, as vain as your problem with it might seem, I actually agree. The visor looks like shit.

The other day I was able to pick up a Sweet Protection Dissenter for like a third of the price new in box from a friend. Most comfortable helmet I've ever used. Would recommend for a thick skull.

Though I like my older Flux helmet, looking at the new one I question what the point of the visor is? It looks like it sticks out past the helmet by 10mm.

I hope you didn't buy that piece of shit helmet. I sure as hell wouldn't.

Have you tried that big ass fox enduro helmet that is not flux? Metah or something? I have one and the visor is much less shit.
