Happy birthday, stevew!!

I did something that resembled swimming this morning, though it was more like my arms flopping around aimlessly. I had nuthin'.

still full from birthday french toast....
That sounds good. Wish I could have french toast.

Should be an uneventful work day, as I have no meetings. Get to spend today drum beating to get meetings.

I was wiped out from Kayaking yesterday, slept like a brick last night, currently in Zombie mode. I am hopeful that a mug of espresso will fix that. Semi easy day on tap, it might even be cool enough to go for a post work ride

Back from the cultural haven of NC. Didn't get eaten by a shark but did get in a fight with my brother over going out to eat pizza or getting pizza and staying in. Apparently I was wrong. Fairly uneventful travels with a fairly uneventful "vacation". Will be another several years before I go back though.

Back is sore from hauling bags around the airport and upstairs at home. Brain is tired from the night of partial sleep: wife was snoring first, then Yuna came in for some snuggles before being evicted around the time the baby ate, then the wife was grumpy at me for snoring in turn.

Morning Monkeys.

Rough day, ugh. Good weekend of excellent blues music, but the beers at the Blues Fest suck every year. I am not a fan of $6 beers to begin with, but $6 Bud Light is out of the question.

Any Monkey's by chance have an old SID they have no reason for keeping at this point? If so, please PM me as I would gladly take it off your hands for a reasonable price.

I have no idea where I am
Heading to the High Country to do some hiking at Grandfather Mountain then devouring some bbq and Mexican Coke. Late start to the day, but I don’t care. Pork place doesn’t close until 10:00 and I have a good headlamp.

Old Reba would work too.

Axle-crown is the key. 24" forks are around 420mm, 80mm SID is ~430mm, 80mm Reba is 453mm. I'm trying to keep it as similar sized as possible. She might be getting a Fox 32 RL 80mm though, as that's 450mm as well as the Reba. Those are shockingly cheap on ebay, to the point that I might actually get Wifey a better for for her AS-R (as it's short) and give Haley her fork.

@stoney I'm all for cool shit, but isn't the fork on there now "good enough" for the time being?

Monday blows. Work blows. Coincidence?
No. It's blown and rattles badly. @SkaredShtles will probably back me up on this. He's the one that recommended replacing it. I'm looking to do it as cheap as I can, but with stuff that works.

Speaking of forks, I finally got the rebound on the beater Z1 I got from @jonKranked to work. It's not pretty, but it's enough for buff trails like I have behind my neighborhood. Dawn patrols are back on the menu!

Just to make it more fun, I might pillage the XT disc brakes from it and put, at least the front, onto Haley's bike, then go back to v-brakes myself. Her hands are tiny and getting to school this morning was exciting when she needed to slow down. I need to get the levers in way closer for her or we're going to have safety issues. I can get the disc levers super close and keep power. The same with the brakes off of her 16" Raleigh, so I might pillage that until Hannah needs it, so 2yrs-ish.

SS's boys were obviously bigger and stronger when they stopped riding it, so they didn't have these issues. He also doesn't live at the top of a big ass hill with a cross-street at the bottom, which helps keep things in some control. No matter how you look at it, the hand-me-down of the SS bike will last years beyond Haley, going to Mariko, Yuna, Hannah, etc - assuming their growth rates allow for that - and to friends beyond. She'll probably be on Wifey's Yeti on 24's in 3 years, given her current growth rate, so yeah.

Well liked and not very old coworker died of a heart attack yesterday. Kind of a somber day.
Sounds like my uncle. Enough of a shock that I'll be getting a full cardio exam done to see if I need to make life changes, beyond just working out in general.

Afternoon monkeys. hope you all had a safe holiday. nothing too exciting from me, but my son did take first place in USATF, boys 15-16 YO discus at the regional s yesterday. He is qualified to go to nationals but he doesn't seem too excited about it.
