Those two back-to-back are a good weekend. Bonus points if you leave early on a Friday, get twisted at Elevation Brewing and knock out a Canyon Creek lap on the way. Don't ask me how I know.

Hey I'll happily do dumb shit, I used to race 100 mile mtb races single speed. But I'm in zero hurry to go spend 8 hours pushing my bike for most of that 22 miles, we were just grateful we had a car parked at the bottom to collect the other vehicle back from the top.
I do keep eyeing the South Fork Trail loop though. But I bet it's buried in avalanche debris this year.
Was hoping to do Lenawee with a visitor in 3 weeks time, can't see that happening so I'm interested to hear how Copper Searle looks closer as an alternate.

Dude... all kidding aside I might be with you on this one. I mean... I thought I pushed my bike a lot on that ride because I just didn't have "high country big ride legs and lungs" i.e. I was a fat and out of shape ex-DHer... but hearing you think it ain't worth it makes me think it ain't worth it. Some of the descents (Burning Bear, the no-trail-follow-the-cairn stuff) were good, but fire road / 4x4 trail bombing (Red Cone) isn't necessarily my jam.
This one? That's on the list... there's been at least one MTBR thread about that one over the years... it doesn't seem to get maintained very often so even years without historic avy activity, it sounds like there can be a lot of deadfall.
I'll bet that Lenawee goes. Now... does the extra secret sauce also go is the question...

@Full Trucker yep, I'd seen it on mtbproject before finding those mtbr threads. I bet this year isn't going to be a good one for it though, but if you've not tried it we should make a plan at some point.

Having hiked up to about 10.5K in the general area recently, it's probably gonna be awhile... deadfall and avy debris aside. The wet ought to be EPIC regardless of when it gets attempted.

Nope. My truck stays in CO while I move our stuff. I'll fly back to Denver to collect the wife, dogs, and camper so we can finish out the trip back to the east.
In reality we dont. All of our stuff, with the exception of my toolbox, sofa, and couch fit into a 7.5 x 15' storage unit. But we sprung for the 26', cause I dont know how much more driveability we'd have with a 20' or 22'.I'm sorry, sir... but you're too young to own that much shit.

Ouchie. I think, were I to do it again, I'd do it in reverse direction and descend West Fork Lost Trail. The section from Spring Creek -> Cataract Lake is quite scenic... but if you thought Trail 600 had a lot of hike-a-bike.

Confirmed: Colorado Trail is in all the way to Georgia Pass and back via a friend on the Stravas who rode it yesterday. His report: "Two very small drifts. Takes a few seconds to go over up, sendable on Hayduke tires going down" He did not descend West Jefferson.

Isn't that all in the Lost Creek Wilderness? Not sure where you're riding...Oh - and I forgot to add - it's totally worth doing an out-n-back from Long Gulch on the CT out to Lost Park campground. The gradual DH from the top of the saddle to the campground is just so much fun.

Oh - and if you climb the CT to Georgia Pass, can you head down West Jefferson trail and let me know how it is?
I think West Jefferson is still my favourite descent around here, although the new "local" one is fun albeit 1600ft lower at the high point.

Nope - the section from Long Gulch all the way down N Fork of Lost Creek to the campground skirts the Wilderness boundary. You're probably getting thrown because there is a short section (Black Canyon) between Long Gulch and Rock Creek that *does* go back into the LCW.
I dunno... similar to the Spring Creek -> Cataract ride... the views are nice. I, however, found the descents to be worth the effort (and complete lack of ANY people within an hour of Denver).
Last official CT report was that there was a shitload of snow above treeline before Searle (July 9th). Here's a picture from July 7th of the tundra between Searle and Kokomo:
