Our last trail build was 1 "hard" flow trail, 1 intermediate to easy flow trail, 1 half and half flow and tech and 1 full root gnar trail. My fav is the root gnar trail, just because of the challenge and steepness. Sometimes you get amazing "flow" out of tech, which is at a certain speed and aggressiveness the trail "rolls" better than if you are not attacking it. That is my kind of "flow". One thing that is annoying as F on true "flow" trails is grades that require you to pedal your ass off to get to the right speed for a jump, some of which that just doesn't work as designed.

these are my favorite as well, but they can be frustrating because if you bungle something and lose your speed/flow, it can be really hard to regain it.

"the" flow trail out here at a bike park is Rainmaker at Trestle. I have to admit if you hit the first few jumps well, don't fudge up and no panic braking, and know how to ride a berm, you have just about perfect trail speed to hit all progressively larger jumps. :thumb:

Older trails being converted into Flow Trails isn't a thing here.

Any new trails purpose built for mountain bikes is a good thing in my view.

I think Demo Flow and Half Nelson in Squamish are the only official Flow Trails I've ever ridden, unless you count greens and blues at Whistler which is a totally different situation, in my opinion. Demo is certainly not amazing, especially when 200 newbs are on it, but I'd ride Half Nelson again.

I hate to say it, but riding berms is a fun thing from time to time in my view, given that the local dirt is just piles of sand with gravel interspersed throughout.

I have not achieved such Zen on that trail. I need to follow you down it some day.

I know. It’s decent. I also like steep gnar, but that can be a fun trail. I think there’s one spot on the lower trail where I couldn’t get speed, but only one and the entire thing does pretty well for keeping speed.

both lower and upper black mountain in these parts, for one.
Really? That's interesting. Black Mountain top to bottom was one of the highlights of my last trip down there. I remember plenty of rowdiness, but it's possible that Middle just made a big impression. I can see sanitizing lower for the short loop, after-work crowd, but why mess with upper?
