  • Hey man I'm still planning on coming up to SB to check out Bicycle Bob's...is there any time I should come up next week that would work well? Should I just come by or call or something? If I could sneak in a DH run or two I wouldn't mind either :D.
    Sup Garett?
I just built up a 6.6 and am in the process of trimming the weight and keeping the stregth. She's at 33.5lb right now, but I've got 900g tires on there and a boat anchor wheelset.
I've got a Fox 36 talas RC2 up front, xt cranks, cassette, der and shifters. I've got the Avid Juicy 7's for brakes (BIG step up from the ancient variety Hayes you spoke of). The biggest weight savings are in tires and wheels and its a tough place to sacrifice performance too. I'm waiting on a st of Industry nine wheels and hope to save a pound and a half overr my current ones. The I9's are bout as light as you can find and pretty tough from what I've heard.....but I haven't gotten them yet. For a more conventional wheelset I'd recommend the Hope Pro II hubs, pretty light and not too spendy, good reliability. Rims would depend on if you want tubeless or not. You can probably get a carbon bar and save some weight, but I'd avoid it on the seatpost.
yo Noah. long time no see amigo! After living in flatland (florida) I'm up near DC and buying a trail bike. I'm looking to build up an intense tracer vpp and I'd love your input on a light yet strong build. I need to pick out everything and I've been out of the game for a while. There's a lot more options now than the old-school champaigne colored hayes, etc. can I pick your brain for some ideas?
