For the most part I agree with above. I will say that an upgrade rim with that hub setup will accomplish the strength issue just as well as a whole new wheel would...again, assuming it gets built right.
I think that the event was more organized than the 1st redbull rampage was. Great job guys. I've help put on events with 500-1000 competitors before, it is hands down one of the most difficult/stressful things to do. Congratulations RIDE SFO for putting on your first successful event.
#1. For the most part, Mapquest's route looks decent. HWY 99 is the only major highway of that route so you could spend more time and go as far south as Live Oak on 99.
#2. Downieville is 3 trails. I'd recommend doing some web searches to find a map / route or stop by a local bike shop...

THE ERD at the atomlabs website is 522, plug that into the DT swiss spoke calculator . That'll do it. I get 246mm using 3 cross for the bigun 20mm front hub.
