The 170mm. 172.5mm or 175mm option is the crank arm length. If you are happy with your current cranks I would get the same length on the new cranks also.
I live in Cranford, NJ and overall it's not such a bad place. Only 1 hour from Mountain Creek (Diablo Freeride Park) and 2.5 hours from Plattekill. NYC is an easy 15 mile drive from my house and has all the cultural stuff to keep the wife happy.
You could find a Rhino Lite with XT Disc hub wheelset for < $200 from a mail order catalog, they should hold up. I don't have any experience with the rims, but my rear XT Disc hub on the HT has held up to some abuse :) .
That is when you are in the large ring up front and the larger cogs in back, or small front and small back. It puts too much stress on your chain by bending the chain laterally, your drive chain will wear faster by doing this often :) .
Thanks, syadasti :D . I have never heard of this actually happening, but have been warned, on Ride:monkey:, by the mechanic at the LBS and Avid themselves. That was enough for me not to space out the disc ;) .
After you push the piston back in do you loosen the caliper from the fork? You should do that then grab the front brake, it will center itself, then tighten the caliper in place. Hope that helps, oh and welcome to the :monkey: :thumb: .
