cost on some brands are $10-$11. don't forget we have to pay the rent, payroll, utilities, insurance and the cost of goods. We have regular tubes for 4-5 bucks and some (giant and specialized brands) dh tubes for $7-$9.
Mike-I think the meeting was good to get the support going for the new stuff. Be careful, though! From what i gathered from the meeting, everyone has their opinion...of course.

I am riding a 20" now that beats the crap out of me! I think that the 24" bike has an incredible future. When you watch videos of mountain bikes, the tricks just don't look as good as they do on a 20"...even if they are the same.

make it like the union street bikes, except no square tubes on the chainstays...990 mounts all the way...and use good steel. 110 spacing with 14mm drop outs. No disc tabs, no disc hubs with that spacing anyway. The steeper the HT the better and go internal HS, just charge more!
i have air soft battles with my coworkers...this is getting out of control...last night i got followed home from work and shot with an Uzzi! 20 rps. Tore my calf running from my car to my door.
There are so may great DH bikes out there. If you are looking for a complete, go with a major manufacturer (specialized, giant, scott). You will save yourself at the very least...a grand. If you are lookin for just a frame, $2000-$2500. Personally, the sinister R9 is one of the best...

foes break...just FYI...literally, everyone I have ever seen someone ride. Just don't want to see you young guys making a huge mistake. I would rather ride that heckler. Kona's are stronger, but i think there are better bikes out there at that price.
