I don't know about a RC but push was able to shorten the stroke on my RP3, i'd think that the process for shortening the stroke would be similar. so maybe.
The first V10 SC sent me had a problem with the shock hyper extending. I don't know if you would consider that truely broken, but they overnighted me a new frame.
i've found that the 24 inch rear forces the bumbs to be absorbed more by the suspension, so it tends to have a rougher ride, and that seems to slow the bike way down especially over big rocks.
i put some similar specialized tires on my old Junior T, they barily fit, and like to rub the paint of one side of the arch. So yes they'll fit, but, they'll most likely rub.
i've been riding an 03 bighit expert, and it doesn't feel that long, but my suggestion would be to practice alot. Personaly i like the longer wheel base it feels more stable at speed, and sticks to the ground a .little better in DH
