How much tire clearance is there? Think you could run 3.0"X26" tires in the snow? I wonder how much that would drop BB height? You'd lose 1.5" in wheel size, but gain X amount in tire size (unless run near flat).

That bike is sick and right... sounds like my dream geometry. One quick Q, are the chainstays too short? Does the front pick up too easy? Look up electro-plating, plating, or chroming for anodizing. There are do it yourself anodizing kits, but they appear to be in the $300+ range (caswell...

    Worse Home Mechanic F*ck-Up

The other good one was the friend that was swapping out pedals without knowing that one has lefty threads. Needless to say, it was on there so tight, I had no chance of getting it off without getting midieval on it. I ended up completely disassembling the pedal down to the spindle, removing...

    Worse Home Mechanic F*ck-Up

I had a friend come to me because his BB was failing. I pulled the BB, and about 2 ounces of water followed it... gotta be carefull when washing bikes not to let water run down inside the seatpost, and down into the seat tube.

    steel experts - heat treat?

Tig welding shouldn't affect your frame in a bad way if it is done correctly. I would also recommend that if you do add disc tabs to a frame that was not designed for them, that you run a brace between the seat stay and the chain stay, so that the seat stay doesn't collapse under the torque...

    Gnar Ford Exploder commercial...

That commercial is so crap... My fave part is how the bike practically lands on the cars hood, yet it has time enough to swerve all the way into the other lane, and the guy keeps going like it rains bikes every day... WASP = White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant if I remember right

    Boarding Stevens today (Wed 2nd)

I'm in Bend, OR. Bachelor is doing it's best to trick people into thinking that coverage is good. It's claiming 61 inches, but the bare spots say otherwise. The main webcam is pointed at a slope that has snowmaking, so it actually looks better than it is. Mt Bailey cat skiing seems to...

Calling all N. and Central Oregon peeps

Bunch of trails here in Central Oregon. Here is a link to the local trail org. COTA (cotamtb.org) The Phil's trail network is great for XC, lots of options. Some of the upper trails are okay for light FR or DH. Most of this is still muddy/snowy. East of town is Horse Ridge, and some...
