    Summit - protective gear question

I am actually considering getting a bike that meets Summit rules - 6 inch single crown front & 6-7 inch rear. Probably better suspension than a 5 year old Giant DH anyway. My question: Do they hassle you for full gear, including a chest protector?

    As summer approaches . . .

Yes the course was lined with rebar and guess what else? He knew all about it. Don't race if it's too dangerous. Nobody forced him to race. Summit eventually won, but the $$ it costs to defend a suit that makes it further than summary judgment is insane - It's insane even if the case...

    As summer approaches . . .

I look forward to yet another season without a lift-assisted DH spot. (3rd year? 4th?) I echo NCRider's question: Why do I even own a DH bike? The answer to that is that I won't for much longer. Time to go to a multi-front ring, 5-6 inch freeride bike to ride my local "hill" that is...

trash it or fix it (also posted in DH)

Endoed the landing of a gap-jump. Over the bars into take-off of the next jump. Broken arm. Broken front triangle of a 2001 DHi. Bike has been hammered for 6 years - expert level podium finisher. Anyone have a small DHi front triangle for cheap? If not, would you buy a frame & shock for...

    East County trail being destroyed...

I posted on this topic a while back when some 'scared' riders used a pick to destroy the take off and landing of a tough 15 foot-gap double so they could just not do the double and then hit the natural table top right after it. Don't be an a-hole. Learn to ride.

Any updates on the Baldy situation?

It never ceases to amaze me that we will literally excavate whole mountains to build houses and rodes, but if a bicycle tire touches forest or park soil, all of a sudden every species on earth is threatened. I'd bet that in a year every downhiller in So Cal does not do as much environmental...

    Seattle Rider needs the 411

But, why come here. I rode some trails in Spokane that pretty much blow away So. Cal.

Specialized drops their gravity race program

I love DH: riding and watching. I watched every event on OLN when they covered it 3-4 years ago. Now, I do not even know who is leading the ratings. What good is a team if they get no exposure? I have been saying it for 2 years: WEBCASTS. Obviously, tv networks do not want it. Thus...

    RC Moves to NASCAR

Nascar is boring until the final 10 laps and half the time they F that up with a yellow. I will watch for the first time in a couple years because of Montoya, RC and Vill. F1 needs to somehow increase ease of passing. MOTO GP AND SUPERBIKE ARE EASILY THE MOST EXCITING RACES TO WATCH...

    STEEP & TECH trail

That looks really fun. I was just thinking today that jumping is fun, but tech is more fun. Unfortunately, my local runs are jump heavy. Plus, even the tech is just dirt - no rock gardens.

Anyone else waiting along time - FOX SHOX:

I sent in a rear shock. They say they are waiting for a part. Luckily, it was a spare shock, and I can still ride. But it's getting annoying. I called after a month. They had no idea when it would be ready.

    Testicular pain (this is serious)

Here is more info: Thank you for the responses. According to the doctor, it is likely the varicose vein problem. I am awaiting a CT scan result. Different seats, etc. absolutely does not help. I have even ridden standing up and the motion causes pain. Also, like a DH forum poster...

    Testicular pain. (Serious medical post)

I have a major problem that has me off the bike. Whenever I ride (or even sit in the wrong position), I feel like I have been kicked in the nuts. THe duration can last hours. I have been to the doctor and it's related to blood-flow through my veins in the area. Surgery possibly can help...
